When I first decided to partake in this contest, the most difficult thing to come up with was what exactly I should write about. So many things in my life have influenced me to become what I am today and I often wonder how different I would be if some of these things were no longer in my life, or never were at all. I thought for sure that I wanted to do a person, but there are so many incredible people have influenced me. I obtained the realization that I would never be able to pick just one person that has impacted my life the most. After I concluded that a person was out of the question, I thought back to something else that has shaped me into the person I am presently. I was introduced to a much larger variety of books than I had been able to read in kindergarten. I found that I was capable of reading at a elevated level. It amazed me how much books were able to get through to me, and how much I truly understood the fascinating stories that were written on the page. I was able to relate to characters and learn about new experiences. In third grade I met one of my best friends who shared my love of reading and who appreciated the written works of many different authors. I was able to voice my opinions on many different books and she could easily relate. Throughout my elementary years and some of middle school, she pushed me to read different genres past my usual boundaries and acquainted me with new and inspiring authors. Because of her, I expanded my usual routine of reading and uncovered some of my favorite books. Even though she moved away, I still continue to carry her audacious ways of experiencing
