When presented with the opportunity to leave the world in a better place compared to when you entered it is an opportunity that cannot be passed up. A career as an engineer allows me to achieve my goal in life, which is to ultimately help people. I decided in my sophomore year of high school that I wanted to become a Chemical Engineer. Engineers help people and change the world, which is exactly what I dream of doing. I will strive to learn to design and analyze products and systems that transform raw materials into materials like life-saving medicines, innovative renewable energy sources, and more. All of these things improve products and enhance lives. I want to have an impact on the world by working to improve the quality of people's lives. Most items used by people everyday have needed chemical engineers to produce them. I can help end starvation, disease and poverty as well as help to save the environment by developing alternative technologies to combat acid rain, lead pollution and the greenhouse effect. I have narrowed my top schools to either Villanova or Lehigh. Both schools possess a great reputation in engineering, however, are rather expensive. I am already thinking about my situation after graduating, and by attending a university in Pennsylvania, I am given the ability to make connections worldwide by taking advantage of studying near a city like Philadelphia. I would love to attend Villanova University, which is located right on the outskirts of Philadelphia, and has a strong reputation for business, nursing, and engineering.
