The effects of the Cold War on American Society
The Cold War is an amazing story of competition between political and economic ideologies, a competition that has threatened the world with nuclear war and annihilation. The countries are threatening each other with nuclear weapons and every country keeps building up in nuclear weapons. The buildup of nuclear weapons and scared the whole world, no one was safe. The Cold War began in Europe after World War II. The Soviet Union won control of Eastern Europe and controlled almost of Germany and almost half of Germany’s capital, Berlin. The United States, Britain, and France controlled western Germany and West Berlin. The Soviet Union blocked any point of entry that led to West Berlin, so no one can …show more content…

The atomic era is basically the “Cold War”. The Cold War is when the United States and the Soviet Union started to build up nuclear weapons after everyone found out how strong the nuclear weapon really is and if one country had a large amount of it then they could possibly be one of if not the strongest country in the world. So the United States and their allies buildup nuclear weapons against the Soviet Union and their allies. Both of them competed against each other for superior and who could be the stronger country. The two countries built up their artillery with nuclear weapons but never attacked because if one of the country’s launched a nuclear weapon or an atomic bomb, it will causes a nuclear war since the opposite country will fire back and it would be an all-out war.
A conflict of Ideologies: Communism v Capitalism The communist were the Soviet Union and the capitalist were the United States. They both fought against each other in the previous war, which was World War II, the war first started because of communism that’s why communism and capitalism was still fighting during the cold war. This played a major role because that’s why the United States and the Soviet Union first started to build nuclear weapons against each other. The conflict still went on during the cold war, but once the Soviet Union collapsed and they were destroyed communism was over, so then that’s why the cold were was now then over.
