Recommended: Us foreign policy 20th century

The cold war began because of conflicts not resolved from WWII, and was fought between the Soviet Union and the United States.
First, one of the major starting factors of the war was the fact that the United States wanted to help Europe. After WWII, Europe ends in ruins. The US knew that if they didn't help, Europe would face tragedy in from the social, political, and economic standpoint(Document 3) The US steps in to try and restore the economic health in Europe.. Russia feels very uncomfortable with this. Russia felt that if the United States was helping Europe, that eventually they would become allies.
In addition, there was a big difference between the ideas of the US and the Soviet Union. The Us lead with democracy, while the Soviets
