Cloud computing is a technology that has come full-circle in recent years. Computer equipment used to be too expensive for an average individual to own. The original industry model was a computer mainframe with dummy terminals. This fit the technical definition of Cloud Computing in a primitive sense because all data was stored and accessed from the mainframe. With the advent of the microprocessor, MS-DOS and Windows, hardware and software prices dropped and computers became commonplace in businesses and homes. This transition led to a model with personal computers storing data locally and not being connected to each other. Then as the Internet was created and the World Wide Web was developed to explore it, Personal Computers became connected. Soon the Internet evolved from a crude system into a broadband pipe expanding into many homes making a cloud based model possible and practical. The future of Cloud Computing promises ever smaller computers with all data and even computer Operating Systems themselves dwelling in the cloud.

The basic framework for current Cloud Computing solutions with a dynamic enterprise infrastructure in place consists of four multi-component layers. The first layer is the physical layer that consists of all hardware such as Mainframes, Networking Devices, Storage and Power systems. The second layer is the Virtualization Layer which contains Virtualized Servers, Virtualized Networks, and Virtualized Storage. The third layer is the Management Layer which allows for Dynamic Provisioning of allocated resources, Dynamic Scheduling which allows applications to request allocated resources and receive them in sixty minutes. This enables the capacity of shared network resources to be used in an efficient manner. ...
