The goal of this essay is to persuade my audience to think of how their vote will effect the survival of Democracy, and the future of our country. I will state facts and opinions of why I believe Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama are not good choices as leaders of our country. There are many problems in our country, to begin fixing them the first step would be to not vote for either of these candidates in the 2008 elections.
Hillary Rodham Clinton
In Hillary Clinton’s recent speeches, she has stated that she is against abortion and for the death penalty, but her voting record shows otherwise. In her write-in response to a 1998 survey, Clinton stated her position as “Abortions should be legally available.” She received a 100 percent rating from The Planned Parenthood Council. Clinton has been lying in her recent campaign speeches about these two subjects to try and gain the vote of “middle of the road” republicans. These facts are easily available to anyone who wants to know, so before you go and believe everything some one says, you may want to check into it, I don’t think we need a hypocrite running our country.
Clinton is very concerned about global warming. She supports the production and use of ethanol. She’s right, a cheaper, cleaner fuel would be nice, but this ethanol is being produced from corn. Clinton and others may not notice it now, but if we continue to use up all the corn for fuel, we will have a food shortage. Corn is a vital food for feedlot market animals. Farmers that raise the animals are starting to not be able to afford the sky rocketing price of corn, so they’re killing off their stock. If these prices continue to rise, and farmers continue to not pay, we will have a shortage of meat, milk, and corn in our country. There are already people starving to death in Mexico because their main food source is corn, and it has all been taken to be used as fuel. We should respect our Earth, God gave it to us to use and take care of. Take care of at some extent, when it comes to polluting the atmosphere or eating, I think we should go with the eating.
Another concern of Clinton’s is global warming. She wants a law that says it’s illegal to drive any car in the U.
The United States is a privileged country with freedoms and opportunities many countries strive to achieve. People come into the United States in hopes to obtain these rights and make a better life for themselves; they strive to achieve “The American Dream.” Citizens are given the chance to vote, speak their mind, and live according to their desires without prejudice. However, the same government that promises hope has flaws that frustrate the American people; the Electoral College is one topic of debate. Many feel this system is a safe way to regulate who leads the country, while others feel that issues should be left to popular vote.
After nearly a decade of optimism and prosperity, the United States took a turn for the worse on October 29, 1929 the day the stock market crashed, better known as Black Tuesday and the official beginning of the Great Depression. The downfall of the economy during the presidency of Herbert Hoover led to much comparison when his successor, Franklin D. Roosevelt, took office. Although both presidents had their share of negative feedback, it is evident that Hoover’s inaction towards the crises and Roosevelt’s later eccentric methods to simulate the economy would place FDR in the positive limelight of fixing the nation in one of its worst times.
President Barack Obama has been a well-known political figure for just over 8 years; he has served two terms as the President of the United States. There has been controversy surrounding the first African American president, after his first term Obama failed to prove to America that he would fix all the things he promised to fix upon election. With his second term he has set in place his views and goals for the country. Obama’s views have been trying to benefit the overall population of American, from the poor all the way to the rich with a few subclasses in-between. During the Inauguration of his second term, won against Mitt Romney. His opponent stood for many things that were conflicting to Obamas platform, while Obama stood for rehabilitating the poor after the recession, Romney wanted to focus on tax breaks for the rich. Throughout the speech given by President Barack Obama, he outlines necessary changes in the system to benefit the people and the need for people to come together as one to have an effective country.
Choosing a president can be very challenging. There are many things we as citizens look for in a candidate. For example, goals, visions, etc. We always want what is best for our country and for our families. James D. Barber looks into one thing, which is the candidate’s character. This essay will explain James D. Barber’s theory. It will also criticize the placement of five presidents in the typology he has created.
In the film, Gore talked about the ice core drills that were taken in Antarctica for studding carbon dioxide levels in preceding years. “When the snow falls it traps little bubbles of atmosphere. They can go in and measure how much CO2 was in the atmosphere the year that snow fell.” Gore’s partner pointed at the specific part of one of the core drills and said “right here is where the US Congress passed the Clean Air Act.” He could see a significant change, “just a couple of years after that law was passed, it 's very clearly distinguishable.” The Clean Air Act was passed in December 17, 1963, and the significant change from pollutants in the atmosphere was obvious. Generation of that time have experienced clean ecosystem. But what about present? The technology and industries have grown since then. Present pollutions contaminating the atmosphere more than ever before. New similar acts must have been passed decades ago. It is disappointing when candidates who are running for president pledge to something’s just to get more votes, and once they are, they would never bother about keeping the promise. Like the Al Gore said “in 2000 my opponent pledged to regulate the CO2 and that was not a pledge that was kept.” This is immoral and unethical concerning society and nature. Today, global warming issue is also politically ignored. When Gore showed the chart with predicted CO2 level in 50 years from 2005, the
Prompt 1: Who won the debate & why? Based on the performance and content of the presidential debate, Hillary Clinton emerged the winner. A debate is a typical adversarial argument, which is characterized by competition. There is one winner and one loser. The argument revolves around two people who have different or opposite ways of thinking, arguing on the same topic.
The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible both provide similarities about the characters within the Puritan community. Both books reveal similarities between Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter and John Proctor in The Crucible. Hester Prynne and John Proctor are not physically similar, but they are alike in some ways because their beliefs and emotions towards the Puritan law affect their reputation and determine the outcome of their future. Hester Prynne and John Proctor are not physically similar but both characters feel guilty for committing adultery, show integrity, they are courageous, and their deaths have left behind a legacy.
Throughout the history of the United States there has been extraordinary individuals both in business and government that have demonstrated their abilities to be affective leaders among the people in which they are in charge of. There are many definitions of what a leader is and what characteristics a leader should have. One man that demonstrates all aspects of a leader and that has been deemed on the list of one of the greatest presidents who has ever served respectfully belongs to Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The political culture that defines American politics shows that despite this compromise, America is still very much a democratic society. The very history of the country, a major contributor to the evolution of its political culture, shows a legacy of democracy that reaches from the Declaration of Independence through over two hundred years to today’s society. The formation of the country as a reaction to the tyrannical rule of a monarchy marks the first unique feature of America’s democratic political culture. It was this reactionary mindset that greatly affected many of the decisions over how to set up the new governmental system. A fear of simply creating a new, but just as tyrannic... ...
The institutional approach to studying the presidency focuses on the presidency as an institution. It examines the president’s roles and responsibilities, with an emphasis on the structures and process of the presidency. This approach is helpful for evaluating what presidents do in a systematic way; however, institutional studies of the presidency often emphasize the role of institutions and processes at the expense of individual characteristics such as ideology, power, and personality. Institutional studies are typically case studies or involve quantitative analysis methods.
Not a day goes past that without hearing about the presidential candidates. The local polls, debates, drama, and the daily attacks people in the political parties. I hear this information whether I want too or not. One can always be up to date when it comes to the upcoming election either on the television news, or radio, and reading about it in the daily newspaper. And the presidential election seems to be what everyone is talking about or using social media to express their own personal sides. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s not like every year we get a new commander and chief. The presidential election is something that Americans looks forward to every four years. People across our nation get to vote and be part of our great democracy in the

A female belonging to a particular category defines a woman and being black is a member of a dark-skinned people, especially one of African or Australian Aboriginal ancestry. A black woman is just a category belonging to a community of color that is the “opposite white”. White the symbol of purity meaning no harm determining that a white woman is a pure female, the opposite of a black woman. There is not a fine line between white and black women. They are both a part of the same “category”, but so different described in dictionaries, media, and society. Black women are angry, fierce, erotic, and curvy. They are the Welfare Queens of human civilization. White woman can be best described as Starbucks lovers, housewives, consisting of a dumb
Next year’s presidential election is incredibly important in regards to abortion. It is the voters choice to decide whether abortion should be legal or not. Hillary Clinton, who is a current candidate running for president, believes that it is a woman’s choice to decide whether or not she wants to get an abortion. She says that it is the woman’s right to have an abortion, to end a life that has not even seen outside of its mother’s womb. Hillary says that she is concerned for the well being and the future as well being, of the women of America. If she truly is concerned for the future well being of the women of America then it would seem that she would be concerned for the women who are not yet born. Alcorn says, “There can be no equal rights for all women until there are equal rights for unborn women.” (99) Whether the majority of USA 's vote are for a democrat or republican candidate, Americans need to know how the candidates view abortion. No matter what they believe about abortion, America can not ignore the facts that it does impact women’s health and well
Presidential elections are the one time of year where people second guess their morals and what they really want our country to look like. The campaigns went from having hard facts to bashing the other candidates to get votes. It’s a way of life for Americans to sit in front of a television and believe every single statement that comes out of politician 's mouths. The people need to come together has one and voice their opinions and their voice. With this year 's election having two unfavorable candidates, it is questionable whether voters should be protesting against the government by submitting blank ballots, electing fictional characters, and throwing rallies at candidates campaigns.
