Recommended: How technology effects medicine

Over the next 10 years or more, the future of clinical research lies within the successful completion of complex clinical trials, many of which require the simultaneous development of combinations including biologic drugs with comparable devices. I also envision a growing pipeline of clinical research studies which will collect various biomarkers, including but not limited to, genomics and Pharmacogenomics which may have a primary or secondary endpoint for determining therapeutic diagnoses, disease progression and even possibly advancing medicine to provide cures and/or aid in disease remission. I envision the future of clinical research to be an adaptation of many new technologies both informational and diagnostic in nature. This type of …show more content…

While a clinical research coordinator exudes many diverse skills, I envision some changes to the core competencies that will be required in order to be successful in coordinating clinical trials that are technologically advanced globally. For example, some clinical research coordinators can be more dependent on charting and paper derived source. With the continued advancements in technology, these coordinators may soon develop the comfort and security to working more independently as patient centered technologies are developed to be more innovative and user friendly. A coordinator who is adaptable and flexible to incorporating new skills will enhance and accentuate the technological growth both strategically and globally. New skills will include employees becoming more proficient in informational and diagnostic technology and problem solving skills. A clinical researcher degree with a minor in technology oriented degrees would also be an invaluable employee in the future as these skills will exemplify the future development’s needs. Additional attributes that would be vital are those employees who have experience in complex global trials, including those who may have even worked in other technology-advanced countries. These skills will give the edge over fellow competition.
