Dr. Jennifer Hawthorne sums up her purpose in a simple statement: “I like to feel helpful.”
Hawthorne is a clinical psychologist who specializes in many areas of practice including relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression. She has a private practice in Waxhaw, NC, where she offers therapy and testing services for kids and adults. People come to see her when something is not working in his or her life and she helps that individual work it out.
“I am fascinated by how things work, particularly people,” she explains, “I like to connect with people in a way that we usually don’t in everyday life - like talking about underlying thoughts and feelings.”
Hawthorne has only been in practice for two years but in that time period she has learned a lot about different people and learning strategies associated with different individuals. She follows the ethical and best practice standards of clinical psychology, but uniquely, she tends to be more informal with clients. “Besides being a psychologist, I am also a human being,” she describes.
