Climate change has been in debate for many years over whether it is a threat or not. Climate change is a threat and will be for many generations to come. Climate Change is when toxic chemicals enter the environment. Climate Change affects the oceans, air, animals, and crops/plants. Climate change can be reduced many different ways. Some being very costly, but some as simple as just trying to drive less. Although climate change costs a lot of money to fix, it is killing our oceans and marine life and will affect future generations. Climate Change is a change of global or regional climate patterns, usually due to toxic gases in the atmosphere. Sea levels rising, Coastal cities at risk, Harsher natural disasters, all of which are effects of Climate …show more content…
You can almost tell yourself that all is well underneath the ocean. However, Jeffery Kluger studied a study done in the journal Nature that the rate of sea level rise has increased by 25% than previously thought. According the to troubled waters sea temperatures have risen 1.04 degrees above the average 20th century temperature (Jeremy Kluger 1). The oceans acidity levels have risen which is not a good combination for marine life. Craig Welch in National Geographic did a study showing fish shrink and that for every 1 degree the ocean temperature risen the fish will shrink from 20 to 30 (1). This is because the hotter the ocean get the less oxygen there is and the creatures won't be able to draw as much oxygen from the ocean. You may be thinking that is all bad and stuff but how is it effecting us. Well according to Jeremy Kluger in Troubled Waters coral reefs have declined 40% since 1970 (2). Coral reefs have a very large impact on the oceans ecosystem, and without many marine species would die. Coral reefs are homes to many types of fish and to smaller marine life like krill. Without coral reefs fish and many other species many food sources would be gone. Which would result in us losing seafood as an option to eat. Also would not only effect fish but eventually all animals that live in the
Climate change is temperature increasing over a long period of time. Climate is imoortant to both humans and ecosyestems in order to thrive. One slight change can disrupt an entire ecosystem. Most people recognize that greenhouse gasses such carbon dioxide have been contributing to climate change. Greenhouse gases are part of earth’s many natural processes. Greenhouse gasses are important to keeping the earth at an overall warm temperature. When When sunlight shines down to Earth, it warms the surface but after so much warming, some of the heat goes right back out into the atmosphere. Some of the heat hits the greenhouse gases. When this happens, the molecules become excited and release even more heat. The issue of climate change has been
Climate change is a change in global temperature and regional climate patterns. At the turn of the 20th century, there has been rising issues about climate change, arguing that global warming and climate change is an issue worsened by the human race. Change in climate is a natural process in which changes from season to season and even fluxuates over thousands of years. Over the time frame of the last 650,000 years there has been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat (Global Climate Change). It could be argued that climate change is a natural process and the Earth is suppose to change its temperature from hot to cold. Yes, that is true. However, the rate in which the temperature is changing is something this Earth has never endured. In
The High sea temperatures also threaten the survival of coral reefs, which generate an estimated $375 billion per year in goods and services. In southern New England lobster catches have plummeted because of heat stresses and growing parasite threats due to rising sea temperatures.
Earth’s average temperature has increased about 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880 and another degree could cause even more problems than there already are. Climate change is an important issue to be aware of because it is real and it affects you and the things around you each and every day. Every day animals lose habitats and die because climate change caused there home to burn, or their food sources started to deplete, etc. Along with these, more and more CO2 is being released into the air due to wildfires burning which is causing the atmosphere to heat even more. With the temperature increasing the oceans will become warmer and evaporation and rainfall patterns will change which will affect humans and animals, because we all work together in a system. There are many consequences of climate change like human health issues, and more animals becoming endangered, but the most important consequence is the rising amounts of wildfires.
Before a person can tackle handling the concept of global warming, they first must analyze the true definition of what it is. Climate change periodic modification of Earth’s climate brought about as a result of changes in the atmosphere as well as interactions between the atmosphere and various other geologic, chemical, biological, and geographic factors within the Earth 's system. (britannica) Since all 196 countries in the world have to share the oxygen and carbon dioxide, we all should take a part in the responsibility of taking care of earth. On November 6, 2012 President Obama said that we want our children to live in a world without the destructive power of a warming planet. The biggest challenge we face is not only saving a warming
Global climate change and its apparent effects have been the subject of much discussion for a number of years. It is often claimed that this change is too advanced and the damage caused by it is irreversible, meaning that any efforts by us to undo this are in vain. Although I agree that our planet has become unalterably changed, I don’t entirely concur that this change is now completely beyond repair.
Climate change is a major issue that is only going to get worse. Climate change is a change in global or regional climate patterns. It has become more apparent since the mid to late 20th century onwards and is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. Climate change has been an important issue for decades that has effects on the environment and people of the world with the end result potentially being catastrophic. Although many believe that prolific use of fossil fuels is the direct cause of climate change, there are many more underlying causes including population expansion as well as irresponsible consumption of natural resources that have
Climate change is considered a controversial topic. Although scientists have been studying the issue, there are many citizens that are still not fully educated about it. Therefore, there are people who support scientists in their results, and there are people who deny the scientists’ findings as propaganda or exaggerations. This is the same issue even in politics, where the two main parties, Democrats and Republicans, have opposing perspectives on climate change. One can really tell just by looking at their approach to the issue, especially their tone and diction. The republican candidates doubts climate change, and when the topic is brought up during an interview, the republicans flatly deny it with no further discussion. They do give some
Climate Change is when a significant and lasting change in global climate patterns form, which attribute to the increase levels of carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. This is something that is happening everyday because of the everyday actions in our lives. Climate change is happening all around the earth and we should rethink our actions. In this report, you will learn how climate change leads to increased warming of the oceans causing krill die off and other climate change consequences.
Climate change, is a change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns when that change lasts for an extended period of time. These times can be anywhere from decades to millions of years. The Earth’s climate has constantly been changing throughout history. Climate change can be dated back to over 650,000 years ago. Most of the changes that happened before 7,000 years ago happened because of small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy the earth planet receives. Even though climate change is natural, people are speeding up the process at which it occurs by polluting. Climate change has many impacts all over the world and its effects are evident. People can still slow down the process at which climate change
Climate change is a change climate patterns over time due to increased greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. It’s usually caused by humans in which sense it is referred to as global warming. Global warming, as the name implies, is the increase in climatic temperature across the globe. The greenhouse effect is when greenhouse gases trap sunlight and heat up the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (2013) include carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, fluorinated gases, ozone, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas, causing the most effect. Oxygen is naturally in the atmosphere, and the burning of fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide because they contain carbon. This is where the human effect comes in. we have become so industrialized we tend to forget that there are implications of certain actions such as pollution and deforestation. If Earth is treated like this without a change, eventually we will lose Earth or a major part of Earth thereof. This topic relates to this class beca...
Climate change is defined as the alteration in patterns in temperature and weather. A new wave of climate change, bringing warmer temperatures and more extreme storms, began to catch the attention of scientists sometime in the late 20th century. It is blamed perhaps on the increased burning of fossil fuels, contributing to the greenhouse gases that harm the environment (“Climate Change,” CQ). On the contrary, it is something that simply occurs naturally. It occurs over long periods of time and has several years of increased change. For example, one extremely cold winter that occurs only once does not indicate climate change (“Climate Change,” Berkshire). However, having hotter summers than ever before for long periods of time, as we are witnessing now, does indicate climate change. The increase in occurrence of natural disasters, such as hurricanes, tsunamis, and earthquakes, is means for saying climate change does exist, as is the general change in temperature.
Although climate change has been regularly discussed since the 1950s, climate change is the result of activities that go way beyond that period. Effects of climate change include higher air and ocean temperatures, increasing melting ice and snow, leading to rising sea levels, and the increase in the level of concentrations of greenhouse gases.
Climate change is the long-term shift in weather patterns in a specific region or globally. Climate change refers to changes in a regions overall weather patterns. These include temperature changes, precipitation and cloud cover (www.ecolife.com).
According to the Canada’s Action on Climate Change, Climate change is a long-term shift in weather conditions identified by changes in temperature, precipitation, winds, and other indicators. Climate change can involve both changes in average conditions and changes in variability, including, for example, extreme events. Climate change is one of the biggest crisis in the earth. It will cause a huge damage to the eco-system and human. We are the victims of the climate change. However, we are the one who cause the climate change.
