What natural forces have caused climate change in the past?
Climate change in the past was caused by many natural factors. First of all, the earth was exposed by the sun which only emitted 70 percent of energy than we receive today. This phenomenon has frozen all water on the Earth but there was still liquid water. The answer to this was the faint young sun paradox that means that there was a lot more heat trapping CO2 in the atmosphere.
Secondly, the volcanic eruption caused warming and cooling. Volcanic eruption causes the Earth to warm because it emits about 1 percent of CO2 more than human do and CO2 can stay in the atmosphere for millions of years. It also caused brief cooling because some eruptions emits sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere that spread rapidly, reflect incoming sunlight which cause the Earth to cool down. The motion of the earth has also contributed to climate change. Thus, the shape of the orbit around the sun varies slightly became more oval then circular over about thousand years. The planet also wobbles like a top and rock slightly back and forth in cycles lasting of years. Natural process such as ice …show more content…

One of these feedbacks involves ice which keeps the planet cold because of its white and bright color by reflecting sunlight back to the space. Another one is CO2 because when it is cold the oceans absorb more CO2 which leave less in the atmosphere to trap the heat and when it is warmer the process reverse. In addition to that, ocean current also can cause regional and worldwide change in climate because they act like giant conveyor belt and spreading the heat around the Earth. The El nino which affect regional pattern temperature and precipitation change global average
