History of Cleveland
Cleveland was founded in 1796 in the Connecticut Western Reserve near the entry of the Cuyahoga River by the Connecticut Land Company. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie. The city is the second largest city in Ohio with a population around 388,072 people. Cleveland has differentiated sectors of economy, that include manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare.
Background of 2016 RNC Wining

Availability of Sufficient Hotel Rooms
Since 2011, Cleveland has been experiencing around $3.2 billion investment in infrastructure improvements and public-private partnerships.
The city was already putting much efforts to renew the city’s image, this was even before Cleveland had placed its bid to host the convention.
After losing the bid in 2008 to host the Grand Old Party, Cleveland developed more hotel rooms and a new convention center. The city offered 19 hotels in Downtown contributing approximately 5,000 rooms within a 15-minute walk of Quicken Loans Arena and the Convention Center, which is the place of the events.
3. Ohio is a Swing State
Cleveland was chosen to host the convention for pure politics reasons. Additionally, they are aware of history that no Republican has won the White House without carrying Ohio as a supporting state in the election.
Texas is a dependably red state supporting the Republican Party, while Ohio isn’t announced as Republican, but the state will be essential to a Republican winning the White House in 2016.

Cleveland's achievement in the nineteenth and mid twentieth centuries created from its exchange association with New York through the Erie canal. After Cleveland won the 2016 RNC the investment infrastructure encouraged, including changes in downtown streets and highways, and the renovation of Public Square in downtown Cleveland.
Facilitating the RNC could give short term economic effect. In fact, hosting the RNC positively affected Downtown Cleveland and neighborhoods. Additional economic benefit from the RNC is the customer’s existence in the Downtown hotels restaurants, and shops. While several organizers have guaranteed the RNC will present to Cleveland an economic growth from $200 million to $400 million. However, a few businesses reported low desires for the convention's financial gain because of a reduction in reservations and spending projections. The economic effect from the Republican National Convention hasn't been successful to Cleveland as expected.
Although, the local supporters estimated that Cleveland will need to raise $55 million to $60 million to cover the costs of hosting.

Ultimately, there are three exceptionally important criteria for deciding on good candidate for an expansion team. The first criterion is that the stadium must be controlled or owned by the baseball team. The stadium is a crucial aspect because most of the team’s revenue is generated in relation to the stadium. This stadium revenue comprises of ticket sales, parking, merchandise and concessions. Thus, without a stadium, the team will not be able to generate a stable source of revenue. The second criterion is that local ownership must have strong roots within the community. Without ties to the community, fan attendance could decrease. This is because fans could eventually perceive that the owner(s)’s only goal for the MLB franchise was to be profitable. The third criterion is the city must have long-term political support in the community. It is vital to have political support in order to gain financial support throughout the team’s years of existence, especially in tax payer monies. Particularly, this is significant when the team experiences issues or fights that involve the stadium and the land around the stadium. If there is a lack of political support, the expansion teams will not be able to obtain enough for money for stadium renovations, repairs, or to build new stadiums for the same team within the same city. This circumstance was apparent when the New York Yankees used tax revenue generated by New York City to fund the building of their brand new stadium for the 2009 season. Therefore, expansion committees believe it is necessary to confirm that the prospective cities will have enough political support because this political factor will help stabilize and financially support the prosp...
Buzz Bissinger’s A Prayer for the City discussed many issues that impacted cities around the nation, but more specifically the problems of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Philadelphia has had an illustrious history as an American city- the Declaration of Independence was signed there, it was one of America 's first cities, and currently it has the fifth largest population of any city. When Rendell took office as mayor, he faced a multitude of issues. Some of these issues were “immediate crises” that he believed may go away by some miracle, others would require much more work and seemed to be nearly impossible tasks. Among the problems for Philadelphia were crippling unemployment, crime, and race relations within the

In the last decade, almost all the big cities in the United States, and a few small cities as well, have battled with each other for the right to host big league franchises. Cities spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build new stadiums and offer enticements to private franchise owners. Politicians often push for stadiums and other favors to teams despite not having support from neighborhoods and general opposition across the whole city, especially where these high dollar stadiums would be built.

Great cities are colorful, diverse, and enduring; the city of New Orleans is a gem. Rich in history, culture and natural resources New Orleans provides immense benefits to the rest or our beautiful country. In response to the documentary “When the Levees Broke” made by the notorious Spike Lee, we are faced with many tragic images; however there is never a question that the people of New Orleans are an enduring and kindred community in desperate of need of loving hands. Sharon Keating writes in her editorial “It's time for a nation to return the favor” Sunday, November 20, 2005 Times-Picayune. A key piece to understand is her take on “Great Cities” “They are made by their place and their people, their beauty and their risk. Water flows around and through most of them. And one of the greatest bodies of water in the land flows through this one; the Mississippi. Even though New Orleans sits below sea level the city has proven it’s worth, with a thriving shipping port, universities, hospitals and a culture overflowing with beauty; American’s must ensure the levees are rebuilt.
