An effective classroom management plan will enable the students and the teacher to respect each other. It is important in order for classroom organization and for efficiency in teaching. Effective classroom management begins with the teacher. The teacher must plan well so that the students will be able to meet their learning and behavior objectives. A good lesson plan will help the students to feel a need to learn the material and will help them maintain positive behavior.
First of all, I would let her know that I am here to help and support her. I would ask her to evaluate her classroom environment, and classroom management; and consider making some changes. Classroom environment plays a big role in a student’ s education. If children feel safe, comfortable, welcome, can express themselves, and enjoy being in you classroom, then they are more likely to have a better learning experience. They will be open to try new things, participate and communicate with the teacher and their peers.
I should establish goals, purpose, and interactive instruction when working with students. I should be able to clarify confusion and provide differentiated tasks for students in my future teaching practices. As a teacher, I would offer models of behaviour; for instance, presenting students that creating an anchor chart helps to remember the course materials. Teachers should respond flexibly to students’ response and encourage students to self-monitor. I believe that it is essential to adapt independent learning skills in my future classroom since independent learning help students to improve their academic performances, increase motivation, confidence, and self-assessment
For example, students should know and decide to respect other students and the teacher in class. This would include being respectful and attentive when another student is sharing their thoughts or while the teacher is talking. Students should not choose behavior that would be disrespectful and disruptive. Since students are guided by the classroom expectations, and respecting others would be at the t... ... middle of paper ... ...e a good self-concept and are self-disciplined they will enjoy class and be motivated to learn. Hopefully student’s individual behavior choices will promote an overall good classroom behavior that will allow students to learn the content, and learn about each other.
School environments must be respectful, caring, stable, and stimulating atmospheres in order to enhance the learning environment. Students that perceive the atmosphere as friendly, satisfying, focused on goals, and challenging and who feel the classroom has the required materials tend to learn more (Walberg, 1984). Teachers need to commit to students and their learning and become members of the learning community. Teaching students to develop respect for others, their environment, and themselves helps to develop a caring, safe classroom community. In my classroom I would allow students to develop their own set of classroom rules and consequences with my guidance.
The way for this is for teachers to be trained and prepared to manage these behaviors. It is essential that teachers are trained in the skills and strategies to support behavior management in the classroom as well as the ability to differentiate instruction for students with special needs (Graves, Lamport & Ward, 2012). This importance on classroom management is so vital that it may require considering the correct teacher when recruiting the classroom for the students with disabilities. This way the classroom teacher is the correct one of the position and will be most likely able to handle the new classroom management needs. Teacher training should enable them to know the proper techniques and strategies for their classroom management to create the positive environment for all students.
Lesson planning is a map to student learning, the resources teachers use influence student learning. For this reason, it is important to understand how to evaluate instructional material. There are many things to consider when choosing material resources this paper will examine the importance of the design, procedures, clarity, and efficiency when choosing lesson plans. When choosing learning resources teachers need to ensure that all students feel valued, and supported regardless of their cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It is also important that materials chosen will help all students succeed in school regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, cultures, or linguistic differences.
Research Question – What can teachers do in the classroom to promote positive behaviour? “Classroom management is a broad concept that encompasses the set of behaviours and strategies that teachers use to guide student behaviour in the classroom” (Evertson & Emmer, 2013, p. 1). This research will focus on what teachers do to promote positive behaviour in the classroom as I believe that it is important that positive behaviour is reinforced within the classroom to promote a constructive learning environment for all students. No matter how much literature and research is undergone, classroom management needs to be discovered by the teacher to suit that particular class and their needs. This is where classroom management is important for a teacher as ‘the education process, which aims to form positive behaviour on the students, starts at this point’ (Behcet, 2012, p. 2901), the beginning to shape students and gain their respect before it is too late.
“It is also important to involve the students in the development of these rules; this not only facilitates their understanding and ownership but also cultivates their sense of power and self-esteem” (362). The effective teacher will realize that by including students into the decision making process of their own classroom management, they are encouraging a more productive learning environment. ... ... middle of paper ... ...ively enthusiastic in a classroom is important to engage student motivation. This can be implemented by showing interest in the subject matter being discussed and the teacher’s enthusiasm should reflect onto the students’. Organization is important to be developed in the classroom so that the students may carry the organizational skills outside the classroom and through out the rest of their lives.
Creating and Maintaining an efficient classroom environment for students can be a difficult task to accomplish. With the amount of distractions and behavioral issues teacher encounter on a daily basis, it becomes essential to prepare and try to prevent them. Our goal for students is for them to receive the most optimal opportunity for learning while spending minimal time disciplining and managing. In order to do so we must hold ourselves accountable as teachers for establishing order and also the students accountable for their own actions. If a good classroom environment is set up, I believe students can learn effectively without feeling restricted.
