Being completely honest I never wanted to take this class. When I made my schedule all I kept thinking was: “Why do I have to take this class? Why is it required? Why couldn’t it have been a different English class?”. I dreaded it the whole summer. When the class started, I bitched the whole semester about how I wanted it to be over the second or third week into school. It was nothing against Dr. Osborne, I just hate writing. I don’t find writing in anyway fun or relaxing; I struggle a lot with it. Even though I have learned a lot and shown growth through the course of this semester I still would write for fun. My thesis statements were stronger than those in unit 1. Unit 1s thesis statement states “My hard work and dedication shows because when I’m done swimming I can get out of the pool and just smile”. While unit 2s thesis statement states “Although the humane society is a non-profit organization, they don’t have the funds to keep up the……………………For this reason, the humane society says they value the animal’s safety and care, it doesn’t show”. In unit 2 I had a working thesis but I wasn’t aware that it was in there. I needed a little help so I went to Osborne and worked on it. I needed some outside opinions. Between every unit, I would have to say that unit 3 is my favorite. It was my strongest unit this whole semester. I like to argue and I feel like that had a little help during this unit. An essay doesn’t have to be one-sided and throughout writing this whole paper it helped me realize that I’m better at writing an argumentative essay. I’m not saying that it was the best thing but out of all the units it was my best. The research part was easy for me because I have had a few research papers throughout my life.
