The causes and result of the Civil War have scholarly been perceived diverse. This paper will give a detailed analysis the observations providing clear and concrete support.
Introduction
The Civil War otherwise referred to as the American Civil War was a war fought between States especially. The American Civil War started in the year 1861 and ended in 1865 after the secession of the Confederate States such as South Carolina, Texas, Florida, and Alabama among others. Research findings show that during the spring of 1861, after many years of simmering tensions and misunderstandings between the southern and northern States over issues, which included federal authority versus states’ rights, slavery, and westward expansion exploded into what political …show more content…

Misunderstandings based on States and federal rights were yet another reason that led to the subsequent explosion of the American Civil War (Bilby 79). Research observations indicate that, during the American Revolution, the government was under Articles formed by the Confederation. On the other end, there was a very weak federal government. Fact-findings reveal that the weakness of the federal government led leaders of that time to come together to create the US Constitution, in secret, at the Constitutional Convention (Frank and Mancall 109). Proponents of States’ rights like Patrick Henry and/or Thomas Jefferson and many others felt that the newly formed constitution did not value the rights of states. Therefore, as shown by the survey, their quest resulted to the idea of nullification in which states had the right to consider federal acts unconstitutional. The federal government failed to agree on this right. From southern States’ perspective, federal government showed no respect to them and as such, they shifted towards secession. Immediately after the war commenced, Americans started counting losses ranging from resources to human lives. Documented evidence ascertained that, of the 2.4 million soldiers that fought in the Civil War 620,000 of them lost their lives. This was not all; research documentation recorded other results of the war, which included loss of body parts through amputation as many soldiers sustained serious injuries during the fight. Research conclusions from some archival resources maintained that, many fighters were unaccounted for their loss. Additionally, the war devastated both the American population and the Southern territories, which in turn claimed the largest portion of psychological and physical effects that came along with Civil War (Frank and Mancall 136).
