Being a leader, acquiring financial benefits, and exploring the world, are all profits of joining the military or a civil service program. It should be mandatory that all high school graduates either join the military of a civil service program so they can attain helpful benefits and live a healthier life.

My first reason why it should be mandatory for high school graduates to join the military or a civil service program is, the military and civil service programs build strong leadership skills in high school graduates. According to the Center for Creative Leadership, a study by John Ferguson, Mike Rybacki, Dominique Butts, and Kristi Carrigan showed that "people who join the military or a civil service program often are challenged to grow in character, traits such as personal leadership, creativity, building and leading a team, and communication", and these traits are important to developing leadership and responsibility in high school graduates, which is why military or civil service should be …show more content…

According to Kimberly Lankford, "families of the United States Military can receive benefits such as: lower college tuition and inexpensive life insurance", and if high school graduates go to the military and receive lower college tuition and inexpensive life insurance, then they will have more money in the later years of their life, which is why military service should be mandatory for high school graduates. Also, according to the U.S. Department of State, citizens in a civil service program can receive benefits such as: affordable health care and life insurance, the student loan repayment program, and better retirement and social security plans, if high school graduates can receive financial benefits as the ones listed above, then they will live a happier, healthier
