Extra credit: Civic Saturday with Eric Liu Power and privilege have a reciprocal relation that involves interaction within the public sphere. I realized the importance of all the factors that are involved in this relation, when I assisted to the Civic Saturday with Eric Liu On April 8th. In the meeting, Eric Liu, a well-recognized CEO and founder of an organization that he calls Citizen University, spoke about a variety of topics that involved politics and the trendy topics at the moment in terms of the relatively new administration. As soon as I reached the Town Hall, I noticed that the hall was organized in a rounded way. Mr. Liu was at the center on the stage, while all the seats around him were very near of his reach. Moreover, people had a really good view of the stage and vice versa. Based on Mrs. St. Onge book self-assessment from the book “Embracing Cultural Competency, A Road Map for Nonprofit Capacity Builders”, this way of organization was encouraging participation and facilitating a communal dialogue. …show more content…

I think, the topic of the talk, “ Civics, The challenges of the new administration”, spurred a lot of different people from communities to assist. Moreover, the organizers of the event were inviting us to join in a enhancing conversation at the end of the talk. This demonstrates that part of the goal of the meeting was unification and social integration. At the same time, there was more integration between the white elders but after the ice breaker, we were encouraged to interact with everyone .
