Cigarettes are harmful to more than just the operator, conjured up by man for profit. Cigarettes hold over 7000 chemicals in a single puff and more than 70 chemicals in a single cigarette are carcinogens. If those facts raise eyebrows then the fact that 1 and 5 deaths are directly related to cigarette smoke. One fifth of all deaths in the United States, that is 1,300 people a day and 480,000 a year that pass strictly because of smoking. More than shark attacks, building fires, and car accidents combined! There are three hugely impactful chemicals in cigarettes that can be detrimental too, but not exclusively, a human body. Those elements are lead, cadmium, and formaldehyde (FDA). These are not the only carcinogenic elements sadly, there are about 67 other known cancer causing materials. How could anyone be so naive as to continue smoke cigarettes? Cigarettes proceed to hinder this by corrupting all areas of everyday life.
Although lead is found frequently in our environment, it has no known purpose in our bodies. When lead gets inside the body, the body confuses it with calcium and other essential nutrients. Calcium, aside from supporting bone health, contributes to digestion. This confusion can cause permanent damage to the health of bones and abdominal region in both children and adults (TheRealCost). Other effects of lead in our body includes learning disabilities resulting in a decreased intelligence, attention deficit disorder, behavior issues, nervous system damage, Speech and language impairment, decreased muscle and bone growth, kidney damage, high blood pressure, digestive problems, memory and concentration issues and muscle and joint pain.
