Christianity and Islam are the two largest religions in the world, founded upon the principal belief that there is one God who created the world. Nevertheless, both ideologies have their own accounts that have contradicted each other since their beginnings. As time changed these religious sects have undergone a numerous number of events that question their validity and have led to controversy in recent years.

Unequivocally both sects differ in many significant fragments of their doctrines. Islam’s founder and leader is the prophet Muhammad, meanwhile in Christianity, Jesus is their founder and leader. Christians also refer to individuals such as Peter, and Paul as Disciples, which translates to: follower of Jesus. Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of the world. Christianity places Jesus on a higher pedestal than Islam. The Nature of God and Jesus’s death are other debated matters where in Christianity, God is composed of three people; the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit and are certain that Jesus was crucified. In Islam these accounts of Jesus are blatantly denied in the Qur’an. The Qur’an is the sacred text in Islam and states, “The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary was but a messenger of Allah and his word, which he directed to Mary, created a command from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers. And do not say, three. Indeed, Allah is but one God”(The Qur’an 4:171). Therefore, Muslim’s believe that God is only one person and that Jesus was just his messenger.

Aside from their beliefs, these religions are also different in a more physical aspect. Muslims generally pray in mosques on Friday’s. Christians pray in churches, chapels, cathedrals, and basilicas on Sunday’s. Duri...

Christianity and Islam have proved to be the two most practiced religions in the world. Their background and current state set them apart from other religious sects.
