Environmental restoration and preservation has become a leading issue in today’s society. The steady depletion of earth’s resources along with the ever burgeoning and expanding human population has lead to the vast degradation of our Earth. Due to the ever-growing demand of our natural resources and loss of their sustainability we are seeing the destruction of our rainforests, wetlands, savannahs, and oceans. Once pristine and natural habitats are being tapped for their resources and often left engorged with plastic, Styrofoam, and other non-biodegradable trash. This not only affects the fragile ecosystems but also many manners of wildlife that call the area home. Deforestation, soil erosion, and pollutants have led to the extinction of many species while many more teeter on the brink. The simple notion of learning how to do or not do things can bring about great magnitudes of change. It is extremely important not only to educate adults but also young children in the care of the natural environment in order to preserve its integrity for future generations. Christians have a role in teaching not only their values and cultures as parents but also their duties to the church and to the environment to their children. By teaching children at a young age and then reinforcing the lessons, as they grow older the child will grow with the necessary morals to better sustain themselves and the planet.
