The Christian faith focuses on the orientation of the human heart behind human thoughts and actions. Living by faith is a beautiful alternative to the way people think of themselves and the way they live in relation to others in their daily lives (Merrick, 2014). Christians see themselves in terms of God’s profound love for them but not in terms of what they do. The teachings of the Christian faith; nonviolence, non-retaliation, inward integrity, selflessness, and love your neighbor as yourself provide the framework for ethical thinking. Although, adopting belief in Christianity can bring forth confusion in the heart and mind causing agony of learning to sacrifice one’s rightful claims for personal justice for the restoration of another (Merrick, 2014).
One benefit is knowing that after you die that life does not stop at death, but there is an after life. So by Christians know that there is an after life they do not fear death because they know they will be in heaven with God. Another benefit to Christian’s belief is that we can be forgiven of our sins. Christian ethics for forgiveness is a very important foundation (Fiala, 2012). In order for God to forgive Christians, Christians will have to forgive others.
These fundamental doctrines are vital in bringing proselytes together as in Ephesians 4:13, which says, ’’until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ’’. Such foundational teachings include, Jesus as the way, His death, burial and resurrection and the unmerited grace of God. There are also nonessential beliefs that do not encumber one’s spiritual fate or spiritual growth. Some of the non-imperative subjects are baptism, the rapture, and predestination. Some people believe there are many roads that lead to heaven.
We look to Christ for everything, and long for him more through his scripture. Christ and his chosen ones are inseparable. One of the things that this book made me realize is that abiding in Christ points to authentic salvation. People with authentic faith will not defect they will remain (abide). The wont deny Christ, or abandon the truths that he has laid before us.
‘A practical guide to biblical ethics’ was written to help Christians follow and understand God’s law, so that they may live a lifestyle that honours God. By using the expression ‘God’s law’, Smith means the moral will of God as to what is right and wrong. This is encompassed in the Ten Commandments and expanded on throughout the Bible. Kevin Gary Smith(2012:6-9) wrote the book for believers whose prayers are to live a righteous life. The book is, however, not written only for academics or full time pastors, but is aimed for all Christians to understand.
These qualities are made for and are to be instilled in the average Christian. Religion is not based on level of religiosity in man, but man is made to live simply with god’s word in his heart. This is what the gospel by Mathew teaches us. This inspires all of us to strive in the path of god, because we know that at the end of time, it is only his pleasure we need to attain.
Becoming a Christian Christianity is pretty simple its all about one life, the life of Jesus the Son of God. The christian life is a life that consists of following Jesus, all you have to do is believe in Jesus Christ and give your life to him. Becoming a christian offers eternal life after earth, it gives you greater ethics, support through out life, and a life after death. Becoming a christian relies on constant progression, its not enough to be a christian in name you have to live the Christian lifestyle. As a christian you will learn to strive for better morals.
The overall purpose of christian discipleship is to have God work through you to help Him in the process of transforming the lives of others. Not every Christian decides to participate in Christian Discipleship and that is fine, it does not make them a “bad Christian” by any means. Individuals find their calling to be in Christian Education through various forms. Some find it through the church telling them they see something in them, others have a direct encounter with God, and others feel the spirit working in their lives. However, someone could be a disciple without being called to do so.
A Christian life is Christian when you have faith that God has a plan for you and that in the end the plan will work out in your favor. As a Christian I do believe that God has a plan for me that in the end it will work out in my favor and I have to have patience. Sometimes I must reassure myself that God has my back and he is looking out for my best interest in the long run. I believe that everyone, at least once, has had a hard time to understand something has happened to them and to have the faith to believe that it is God’s plan for your life. In the long run, I do believe that everything that has happened this far in my life has happened in the benefit for me and has also shaped me to be the person that I am today.
Our understanding of who God is (Theology) should shape our understanding and practice of the mission of the church. That’s another thing that I focus on, the church is just a building, but we as people- we are the church. We are called to be the church, and lead and guide people in the right direction through the Holy Spirit. The Doctrine of Scripture is vitally important to all Christians, for it is through the word that God saves us and causes us to grow in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Only through the scriptures do we have the knowledge of God is Jesus
