In regards to the first Student Choreography Show audition and casting, I was surprisingly satisfied with the performance of myself and my class as a whole. Contrary to my expectations, this process was smooth, organized, and much less stressful than I had imagined. I believe that this process exceeded my expectations both because of the focused actions of my class and my own organizational preparation. In this analysis, I will be evaluating the impacts of my class’s behaviors and my organizational strategies that contributed towards the success of the Student Choreography Show audition process and my final casting decisions. Prior to the audition, I mapped out the ideal height and dancing qualities of each of my characters. After I completed this outline of characteristics, I then referenced the list of possible cast members that I created during the American Spirit dance auditions. In rereading this list, I then picked out people who matched the characteristics that I established as requirements for my characters and put them into a new list. On the day of the audition, I brought this list with me so that I could keep focus on who would be right for my specific characters. Overall, this strategy was extremely successful. Not only did it keep my thoughts focused on my dance, but it also helped me to focus on specific dancers rather than watch each group as a whole. Along with the audition process, this preparation sheet aided me in my casting process because it helped me to have a focus of who I wanted to cast by narrowing my pool of possibilities. While we were taking turns choosing dancers, this sheet aided me to stay focused and to choose cast members who matched my characters. Because of my ability to focus, I am extremely satisfied with my final cast. I believe that the people I chose fit my dance very well and fulfill the requirements I set for my characters. On November 8th, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at University Theatre Shasta Hall in Sacramento State University, a dance performance called “Dance Sites 2016” was performed by the University Dance Company members and Guest Alumni Company members. The dance contained eight shorter works with one intermission and wide varieties of genres. Each of the pieces were unique and interesting because they all contained a different and meaningful message to the audiences. In any case, there was one exclusive piece called “Unfabricated” choreographed by Nhan Ho. This piece was truly impressive and interesting because it was classic yet modern at the same time. Li’s passion for ballet shows on and off stage through his arabesques, flexibility, fouettés, grande jeté and pirouettes that were nothing less than perfection. I understood that becoming a dancer requires commitment, passion and having a great memory as there’s many moves, routines and ballet terms that you need to learn. When I was performing on stage, I felt free and that I could own the stage as it felt like it was my second home. I also felt complete within myself just as Li felt. To perform on stage, you need to be light and graceful along with connecting to the music using precise steps, poses and formal gestures. The film used dance, music, scenery, and costumes to portray a story characterised by Li’s dance. Classical ballet dancers require the utmost grace and I’ve found that you also need a tremendous level of concentration and memory. This portrays when his choreographer Ben Stevenson asked Li Cunxin to replace the main male role due to an injury on the day of the performance to memorise new dances and perform them in front of an enormous crowd. On March 31 I had the pleasure of seeing Hello Dolly at Mandeville High School. As a talented theater student at the school, I take the shows that are put on very seriously. Being involved in the show, helping make set pieces, and working box office brings light to me as an individual, every little helping hand counts. I want to make sure that my school represents theater in the best way possible. With this production put on, I am proud to say that I am a theater student in Mandeville High.

However, New York Public Schools offered ballroom dancing classes to low-income students of color, which allowed the arts to be included in their curriculum. Watching the film, I observed the positive reaction the children had to the dance classes. Overall, they were exposed to different cultures, made new friendships, became more confident, and aware of different career options such as professional dancers or singers (Agrelo, 2005).
My traits have led me to my current path in ways unimaginable. My dancing skills allow me to persevere through difficult challenges, be more flexible, and adapt to change more efficiently, while my quiet confidence allows me to be more humble. With the help of these talents and traits and the lessons I learned from them, I am able to be the most excellent version of myself and make the best out of my life. As a prospective doctor, I can expect to encounter life’s biggest challenges. Life and Death situations will present themselves, and it will be up to me to make a spontaneous decision which portrays confidence, finesse, and accuracy. There’s so little time to ponder the best procedure to perform; so little time to waste. Dance has prepared me for this type of challenge. It has perfected the preciseness in my judgments. On stage, there have been times when I will forget my steps and my mind goes blank; anxiousness seeps in rushing with adrenaline, and the initial thought is to “book it” and flee, but my experience in dance has enabled my ability to make quick altercations in the choreography, preventing the ruination of the showcase. Similarly, when an alarming case presents itself, as a doctor, I will be ready to make an accurate decision.
On the night of the DancePlus performance, I saw numerous little performances. There were six of them in total and the one I had most reactions and favors to is the last one of the first half, which is called Swampin. It was choreographed by John Evans with additional material by Oluwadamilare Ayoride, Jennifer Payan and surprisingly, the dancers. Usually what I would expect from a piece of dance performance is choreographers dominating the process of being creative on the grounds o f coming up dance moves. However, this time, it is nice to see how the dancer actually participating first hand in the creating process of the whole performance which would definitely benefit the quality of the dance, since the dancers would their own choreography
I will fund my exhibit through donations and sales. I would reach out to the community, explain my exhibit and ask for donations, but I would primarily generate revenue through selling items related to the exhibit like prints of the works being shown, creative posters, key chains, t-shirts and other mementos. Additionally, I would have bake sales and fairs and other activities of a similar nature.
