Chivalry At The Gym Research Paper

Inspiration for this paper came from an incident I had the gym a few days ago. At the gym there are two sets of four doors in a row parallel to each other, basically in order to get in or out you must walk through two doors. I walked to exit and a woman who was in front of me walked up to the door ahead of me then waited for me to open it for her as if it was my job. In the modern age of feminism I was taken aback by her behavior. I discussed the event with my sister with whom I was traveling and she said “opening the door for her was the chivalrous thing to do.” I asked her for further clarification and she went on to clarify by lumping chivalry it into the category of politeness, indicating men who are chivalrous were “raised right”, and that those people came mostly from the south or the states with family values. Anybody answers “When a man throws his coat down over a puddle so that a woman can walk over it; When a man pulls out a chair or offers his chair for a woman; When he places a woman and child behind him during a robbery or mugging in order to protect them; Basically, the qualities of a true gentleman.” Peaches says “always seat the woman first and ALWAYS stand up when she leaves the table and again when she returns, open car doors,(both ways), and all doors, for a woman. You would give up you seat on the transit for a woman.” These examples would imply that a woman should come first, that she is more important than a man or maybe that it’s the man’s roll to serve.
