Summary of Findings Many factors in the United States has contributed to childhood poverty. Most of the relationships tied to poverty are due to negative parenting. Compared to their advantaged coun-terparts child poverty has put a damper on the relationships between parents and children. The upsetting part about this environmental disadvantage is that the cause of negative parenting has lead to other factors associated with poverty. Researches have looked at the psychosocial aspect of this dilemma but has ignored the physical setting that these children and their families inhabit. Problems Associated With Childhood Poverty Some children are separated at birth and put into foster homes or other facilities. Many tend to live in these homes until age eighteen but others are there temporarily until agents decide if it’s safe for children to go back with there biological parents. On the other hand , some chil-dren experience lack of education. According to Gary and the U.S Department of Health and Human Service “fifty nine percent of American children above the poverty line were involved in three or more school activities. In contrast thirty six percent of children below the poverty line were not involved in school activities nor were there parents …show more content…

Violence can be compared to neighborhood environments because when children are not getting support at home they go find it in there peers. These type of families live in low level housing and are prone to rodents, leakages and lack of space. Low level houses are also located near places with heavy traffic , toxic waste , and minimal outside space leaving children at risk of being hit by automobiles and contacting viruses.
