There are many reasons why I want to be a child psychologist such as to learn how and why children do things the way they do, I love working with kids, and finally, because I do really well with helping others get through rough situations. I use to want to be a veterinarian, however, since blood and gut is not my thing, I chose the next best, a child psychologist. I specifically chose child psychology because I believe that it is more beneficial to get help sooner rather than later. To be a psychologist takes a lot of work, however, it is worth it in the end. There are many opportunities everywhere I go to get a job as a psychologist, especially a child psychologist. This makes it easy to find a job, however, with all the loans I will need to take out for college will make it hard to pay off debt. I want to help children have a healthy childhood and grow up to be happy, and I believe that if you can teach a child at a younger age they would be better off. Psychologists help people learn different skills, helping is something I have always loved, and have always been good at. Whether it was helping a friend through a rough situation or as simple as smiling at some who is having a bad day. Talking to people is an easy way to figure out how to help them through a tough situation. This benefits me because helping others makes me feel better that I made a difference in someone else’s life in a constructive way. Another benefit is that I am really good with problem solving and using my brain to find logic and reason in things, this is good because I will be doing something I love, meaning I will rarely get

Psychology is the study of the mind, its biology, and behavior if the individual. The father of psychology, Wilhelm Wundt, used objective measurement and controlled analyzing to find and emphasize separation between psychology and philosophy (McLeod). Wundt opened the Institute for Experimental Psychology at the University of Leipzig in Germany in 1879, using his background in physiology to study reactions and sensations (McLeod). There is no doubt that he, along with the later help of Sigmund Freud, launched what is now modern psychology. Psychology and its research helped the world understand the inner workings of the mind and how it affects everyone around us.
(“A graduate degree is a must for every psychologist; a bachelor’s degree in a particular field of expertise to be precise is mandatory. People who want to become school psychologists have to earn special degrees by completing three years of graduate school and a one year internship”).
It is hard to pinpoint the exact moment I knew I wanted to become a psychologist because as previously stated, the journey is complex and dates back to my childhood. When I was four years old, my parents adopted my 14 year old cousin after both her parents passed away. Her father died of AIDS while in
If someone wants to practice psychology you need a doctorate degree to practice but do not need to go to medical school. It 's kind of like a professor in that regard you must also read medical journals and scholastic magazines in order to keep current on procedures and in teaching
One of my visions as a psychology practitioner scholar is becoming a clinical counselor. My purpose in psychology is to help people understand their life in a clear distinct way. I specifically want to target children and, help them grow and be more than they have the potential to be. I want to focus on the child development of children based on their environment. I want to be able understand children react the way they do in certain situations. Children have a way of not being able to express themselves fully so being able to help them understand their emotions.

I have decided to major in psychology and work in a field with kids, and have decided to explore the following jobs in the field of psychology: clinical psychology, developmental psychology,
Psychology is the investigation of the mind and how it processes and directs our thoughts, actions and conceptions. However, in 1879 Wilhelm Wundt opened the first psychology laboratory at the University of Leipzig in Germany. Nevertheless, the origins of psychology go all the way back thousands of years starting with the early Greeks. This foundation is closely connected to biology and philosophy; and especially the subfields of physiology which is the study of the roles of living things and epistemology, which is the study of comprehension and how we understand what we have learned. The connection to physiology and epistemology is often viewed as psychology, which is the hybrid offspring of those two fields of investigation.
Children’s development in all aspects are influenced by genetic composition (Nature) and the environment in which they grow (Nurture). They are influenced by all adults in which they come into significant contact. Smiling at someone unfamiliar or speaking to a stranger is less likely to have a lasting impact on the child or their development. However, parents and immediate family have the most impact on a child’s development. A family is defined as at least one adult and one child who live together and in which the adult is control of the child’s life and behavior as well as demonstrates responsible care for the child (McDevitt & Ormand, 2013). Parents are the primary educators and caregivers,
Child development and growth observation can be quite fascinating considering the uniqueness of each child. As children grow, they normally develop and acquire new skills whether complex or not. The abilities experienced by each child progresses differently that is it depends on the nurturing given by the parent or guardian and on the characteristics that they inherit. Proper development and growth of the child occurs when basic needs are provided by the reliable adult guardians, including such things as love, food, encouragement, shelter and warmth. The essay evaluates child development and growth through observation conducted by myself on my nephew. The essay will include physical development, general health, emotional development,
All through my sophomore to senior year of high school I knew that was what I wanted to do. Everything about psychology just intrigues my mind. I specifically would love to work with children, like I said I love them. Part of my goal is to become child and adolescent psychiatrist. To get there I will of course study hard in my major and strive to do the best I can. I will take lessons on how to interview professionally. It might be a difficult path and take a while to get there but I know it will be totally worth it in the end and I feel like that is where God is leading to be. I really believe that I am meant to help people and that is what I plan to do. I just really want to make an impact on a child’s life and be someone that they can talk to and feel comfortable with, because a lot of children do not get to experience that kind of safe place. So I would say that my professional goal is to help children more than anything else. But, if something changes about what I want to do with my life I will be very open to

Every choice made during the early development of a child has the potential of affecting the rest of their life. If every parent, educator, or caretaker raised a child with this statement in mind, children would be given the best chance at developing to their fullest potential. Early childhood development has many aspects to it, but the three main developmental areas are physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional. Each developmental stage is just as important as the next and becoming aware of how they work can help parents and caregivers better understand how to raise a child most effectively.
The profession of psychology has been around since the time of the Greeks, but did not develop into its own discipline until around the late 1800s. A German physiologist named Wilhelm Wundt began using scientific research methods in order to investigate reaction times. He also was the first person to make the association between physiology and human thought and behavior. In 1879, he opened the first psychology lab at the University of Leipzig. This event has been said to be the official beginning of psychology as a separate scientific discipline (Landrum). Over the years, many influential people have helped the profession of psychology experience a dynamic evolution into various subfields
