It is one the main things when opening a restaurant is pricing the menu correctly. Controlling the portion is better for cost control. Most mistakes that might be made is during the creation of the list. To determine the overall standard food costs there are a lot of things that have to come to mind. The actual food costs is everything that is connected to producing all the menu items sold over a given period of time. Your cost to serve a meal includes both overhead costs and the actual food on the plate. Miscalculating either is a recipe for disaster. The first step is to list the ingredients of the dish you are evaluating. It even matter to include even the smallest amounts of food. For example, like a squirt of ketchup or spoonful of mayonnaise …show more content…
The Chicago Club officially started in 1869. It all started when a social group of men wanted to meet up to drink and play cards. It was later decided that they wanted to expand and, with each member, they would each pay a fee. It is the first club that prided itself on its privacy. The Chicago Club 's “laws” forbid working members of the press from entering the building. They did not let anyone get a glimpse of this exclusive club. There is a long waiting list to becoming a member of the Chicago Club. It is also very tough to get in. An applicant needs a sponsoring member, a seconder, lots of letters of support, and a good deal of patience. Until recently, not even women were allowed in. Before going we were warned to dress in a very formal appropriate manner. I didn 't understand until actually going. The hotel prided itself on the very classic and formal setting. It is very selective and only those invited in can join. People that pass by the building everyday do not tend to know what it is. In the lobby the students from our class were immediately greeted. We were able to put our coats away in the coat room. From the moment we stepped onto the premises I, personally, was treated with respect. I am sure that everyone was treated the same especially their members. While touring I noticed the spacious atmosphere. The room where we gathered to meet was wide, quiet, and decorated in what I would call manly decor. In a very old school fashion the area was made up of lounge chairs with open windows. Throughout the tour there were many rooms that were unique in my eyes. Like the fire room as they call it. It is a room for members within the club that is from another club. It is all about exclusivity. The view of the building was amazing. It had the perfect view of the Lake and Chicago. The club is known for it’s gorgeous view. The hotel itself does not have guests walking in the door like most traditional
In the second year of business at Golf Challenge Corporation the company is struggling. The cost of their inventory is rising, and they are in grave danger of losing their bank loan (their prime source of financing) due to not meeting the required financial ratios agreed and set forth by the bank at the time the loan was given. The owner comes up with a solution, and figures that instead of using Last in-First out (LIFO) the company can use First in-First Out inventory cost system (FIFO) and meet their required financial ratios set forth by the bank. Ultimately, Golf Challenge Corporation should not submit documents to the bank using FIFO as opposed to their previous system LIFO in order to meet the bank requirements
The three groups: the professional players, the blue-collar players, and the teenagers, have forever transformed the atmosphere of the pool hall. While many stereotypes exist concerning what a pool hall is, many are not true. It is not full of "motorcycle people," nor is it a drunken scene as depicted in movies. It is a place of social construct, such as everything in society.
We arrived at 1015 Folsom around 11.45pm. Many people were still lining up to get into the discotheque. I didn't know why people like to go to such a dark and noisy place like that. Anyway, people who were there are mostly dressed up. Some of them looked interesting. My attention went to an old man about 50-60 years old man who were already dressed up and ready to rock his world. I wondered why would the old man go to a nightclub. May be he was lonely or may be he was just looking for fun and excitement. Well, I didn't really know.
More than eight million copies sold is a great figure for any music album. However, for a CD labeled with World Music genre, that number means an unprecedented success. The album, named Buena Vista Social Club, has changed the attitude of the world to Cuban music forever. Nonetheless, Buena Vista has been criticized for being a commercial product, and for causing negative effects to Cuban society. Let us discover the story behind this phenomenon from Cuba, and more importantly, explore the music inside this brilliant CD.
In 1968 the United States of America was participating in a violent war that some of the general public greatly disapproved of. Tension between political parties was rising and this did not help efforts with the war. Anti-war sentiment was growing in popularity amongst the younger generation; they wanted to get their voices heard. Protest and riots were occurring more frequently and growing larger in size all throughout the United States. This was the case for a certain eight Chicago men who protested peacefully. The case that followed their arrest became known as the Chicago seven trials. Originally it was the Chicago eight until one of the members, Bobby Seale, was bound and gagged in court ordered by Judge Julius Hoffman (Rubin web). This displayed one of the many mistreatments of the members of the Chicago Seven throughout the case. The case became a highly publicized spectacle throughout the nation. In retrospect the case is noted as a great injustice and an example of abusive power in the Chicago court system at the time.
In keeping with my stated course goal to learn more about Cuban culture and the influences on its development, I chose to focus my project on the 1998 documentary Buena Vista Social Club. While this film primarily focuses on the bringing together of a group of mostly aging and forgotten artists to produce an album reflective of a bygone musical era in Cuba, there are several identifiable underlying issues that reveal a variety of ways in which political events and social issues have played a role in the isolation of these artists. Indeed, the film points out that many of these once famous musicians were living in relative obscurity some 40 years after the Castro led Cuban Revolution. Many were well into their eighties and nineties when the film was made. Singer Ibrahim Ferrer was shining shoes and selling lottery tickets to support his family. Others had long stopped performing their craft in order to be able to continue to support their families. What follows is my analysis of how this film has given me valuable insight into not only the demise of these special musicians, but also how that demise is a mere representation a larger issue of change in Cuban culture since the 1950’s.
There are a wide variety of restaurants in New York City. You can eat cheap at places like Arturo’s Pizzeria, McHales, Hi Life, and Zen Palate just to name a few. On the other hand you don’t want to miss out on the celebrity owned restaurant’s like Fashion Café, Planet Hollywood, Tribeca Grill, and Nobu. Since I’m going to be staying for three whole days, we’ll just say that I will eat approximately three meals a day which is a total of nine meals. If I ate four of those meals at twenty dollars or less and the other five at seventy or less, I would need approx...
The restaurant business is a challenging industry and if a company has a strategy that works for them as well as their employees, it should stay the course and tweak as needed.

Colleges and Universities play a major role in developing the behavioral patterns of young adults. In addition to developing young minds, colleges help to cultivate character, responsibility, and social acceptable behavior. Students who attend Carlford have expressed their dissent with the current environment of the university. Because of these underling issues, Carlford’s retention rates amongst minorities have suffered. If Kirsten is unable to handle the situation, there will be a trickledown effect to all areas of the university. Being a new professional in the field of Higher Education can be challenge. There are times where an incident directly affects your position and there are other times where there issues that affect the entire institution. Because the issue directly pertains to Greek Life, the Coordinator of Fraternities and Sororities has the responsibility of identifying the concerns and implementing initiatives that will allow the college to be proactive in future situations of this nature.
A fast food restaurant will have to have a good pricing strategy in order to ensure that competition does not push the firm out of business. This will ensure the restaurant remains competitive. For effective management of cash inflows, the management will require to create an environment whereby each item has been priced conspicuously and reflecting the cost of bringing the same to the table as well as the profit margins targeted by the restaurant (Mark 1998).
The club culture-hundreds of thousands of young people across the country, covered in sweat and rhythmically throbbing to a beat- has long been filled with stigmas and stereotypes; the idea that hip-hop music is only for people of African descent, or solely for the "impoverished youth" as Dale Kleinschmidt, an ex-DJ and amateur break dancer from Dallas, puts it, has been a common view associated with the hip-hop scene by the masses. Dale got interested in break dancing because, as he says, "he wanted to look cool." In the beginning, the idea of being able to break dance was funny to him- he had already been involved in the dance scene, but he had never been a b-boy, he just DJed. A lot of Dale's interest in the dance aspect of the clubs came from his DJing experiences.
...ded once they see that the sales will be increasing and tips will be larger. Good staff will increase good public relations which will result in better business. Marketing a restaurant is the most important part in running a restaurant. If a restaurant is not marketed, no one will know about the restaurant causing it to lose money to operate forcing it to close down. Prices on the menu should always be appealing to the restaurant target market and set towards the products on the menu. It is essential that a restaurant develops its staff to the fullest, for a strong staff creates better sales and the public is pleased .
