Chemistry plays an important role in being a veterinarian. A veterinarian is “a person qualified to treat diseased or injured animals.”(Merriam-Webster Dictionary) One reason why chemistry is important in being a veterinarian is that veterinarians use chemistry to diagnose disease in sick animals and seemingly healthy animals. Also Veterinarians use chemistry to prescribe medications and treatments for sick animals and observe the response the animal has to the treatment. The last impact that chemistry on being on veterinarian is that veterinarians use chemistry to interpret diagnostic tests and also to analyze the test results. These are just some reasons on why chemistry is important on being a veterinarian.

In the same article I used in the second paragraph, Out of Africa: A Tale of Gorillas, Heart Disease and a Swamp Plant by Cheryl Lyn Dybas it states “Autopsies performed on gorillas who have died of Fibrosing Cardiomyopathy show evidence of myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle that leads to heart failure.” (Dybas pg.393) This is explaining that veterinarians interpreted the result and it lead to what was causing the disease, showing that veterinarians used chemistry to figure that out. The last example is on the article Aquaculture Veterinarian by Megan Sullivan when it says “ Once I determine the cause(s) of disease, I work with the producer to remedy the situation and prevent similar problems in the future.” (Sullivan pg.48) This is showing that once the veterinarians analyze the test results they use their knowledge of chemistry to determine a cure for it and try to prevent future
