Chartres Cathedral: The most notorious source to look for information is Wikipedia. The goal of the Wikipedia page is to inform their audience about the Chartres Cathedral. From the origins of the cathedral to the recent restoration, the page goes into significant detail with each major era of history. In addition, there is a section discussing the many decorative stain glass clerestory windows and the large rose window. To support their information, they provide images of the stained-glass windows and the cathedral’s interior (“Chartres Cathedral”). However, Wikipedia is notorious for being unreliable as a solid source as people on the internet can modify the article. Thus, the article does not have a definitive author and the information should be taken cautiously. Wikipedia could be a starting point to get a basic understanding with the overall history of the cathedral, but should not be used as a definitive source.

Each page discusses the symbolism of each window and the history behind its symbolic nature. One such example was the clerestory window containing an image of Saint Denis passing a military banner (Bugslag, 494). The journal provided an image of the window to further support their argument. Overall, this academic journal has convincing evidence and it has been peer reviewed to verify its authenticity. Compared to other sources the approach to convince their audience is to give proof through images to convince the reader on the interpretation of the clerestory windows. This academic journal would be good for understanding the overall imagery of the stained glass windows but any other parts of the cathedral would be left
