Charlotte Brontë
" I am no bird; and no net ensnares me, I am a free human being with an independent will"(Brontë 23).
"Born on April 21, 1816 in Thorton, Yorkshire, England to parents Maria Branwell and Patrick Brontë" ("Charlotte Brontë", Biography). Charlotte wasn't the luckiest women in the world. She dealt with death, depression, rejection, and loneliness. Charlotte was the third out of 6 Brontë children. She was surrounded by death after death after death that people were probably used to seeing her family members die. Charlotte was predicted to be the most successful, but considering her misfortunes people lost that idea, but her success in Jane Eyre and strong opinion on being free and independent brought her that success that people lost faith in.
Charlotte's early life isn't what we would assumed it would have been considering her success. Charlotte did not spend too much time with her mother and her two older sister because they had died while Charlotte was still young. "Her mother Maria died in 1821 by the cause of cancer. After her mothers death Elizabeth Branwell, Charlottes aunt took care of all six children"(Charlotte Brontë). "In 1824 Charlotte as well as Emily Joined their two older sister Maria and Elizabeth in the newly opened Clergy Daughter school, were they weren't treated in a respectful manner. They all suffered the harsh treatment by getting cold and poor food. Maria and Elizabeth both died on the same year due to consumptions of the school. Which left Charlotte the eldest sister still alive"(Charlotte Brontë).

...already has a wife named Bertha. Knowing it was impossible for Jane to stay with Rochester she leaves and ends up living on the streets asking for food. Janes cousin St. John takes her in. St. John urges Jane to go on a mission trio to India with him as his wife. Just as Jane was going to agree she hears the calls of mr. Rochester. Mr. Rochester was in a fire and he lost a hand and his eye sight. Jane obviously went back to Ferdinand with Rochester where they rebuilt their relationship. Later on Rochester regained sight in one eye just in time to see his first born son"("Jane Eyre Summary").
“I ask you to pass through life at my side—to be my second self, and best earthly companion.”(Brontë 258).
