The Killer Who Never Killed Charles Manson was an American cult leader whose followers carried out several notorious murders in the late 1960s (“Charles Manson”). Nobody would have known he was the leader of a cult which killed many. Manson's early life was a little harder than the average person. His mother left him at an early, age which made caused himself to be independent (“Interview :Mansion on Religion”). Manson’s twisted philosophies became someone's worst nightmare. A crazy, bizarre character was the reason all of these people were murdered.

Gary Hinman, 34, was the first victim in a series of killings by the Manson “family” in July 1969. Hinman was a musician and had apparently sold “some bad mescaline” to one of Manson’s followers, Bobby Beausoleil. Over the course of three days, Manson followers tortured him and then stabbed him to death. The Texas-born Hollywood actress was known for her role in the film “Valley of the Dolls.” She was 26 and was 8 1/2 months pregnant the night Manson’s followers entered the home where she and Polanski lived in Los Angeles (Gomez). There, Tate was stabbed sixteen times as she pleaded for her life and that of her unborn child. Her body as well as that of four other victims were found the following morning.
Steven Parent was the first and the youngest victim of the group killed that night, he was only eighteen. He was a recent graduate from Arroyo High School and worked two jobs, one as a delivery boy for a plumbing company and the other as a salesman for a stereo company. Parent had an interest in electronics and, on the night he was killed, he was on the Cielo Drive property trying to sell a clock radio to another young man, William Garretson. On the first day of the killing spree, she stabbed Abigail Folger twenty-eight times, she said in court testimony. During the second night, Krenwinkel testified that she stabbed Rosemary LaBianca while the victim pleaded for the life of her husband, Leno LaBianca. Krenwinkel said she later scrawled "Death to Pigs" on the wall with the blood of Leno LaBianca. She was denied parole for the 14th time in June. She'll be eligible for consideration again in five years (“Where Are 'Manson Family' Members Now?”). One of the chief participants in the Manson family murders, Watson was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder. He was involved in both killings at Tate's and the LaBianca's residences. At age seventy-one, Watson remains in prison and has been denied parole seventeen times (CNN). Van Houten is one of several Manson followers who are still alive and in prison. They periodically come up for parole review, though none has been released(CNN). Van Houten, who was convicted along with other members of Manson's cult in the 1969 killings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, was granted parole in September by a panel of state commissioners in Chino. It was the 21st time that Van Houten, sixty-eight, had appeared before a parole board, and the second time that commissioners found her suitable for lease (“What Fate Awaits Manson's Imprisoned Followers?”).
