Is World Peace Attainable? What Makes It Unrealistic? Abigale Marta Lamar Community College Abstract World peace is an idea that is dreamt of by some and belittled by others. This essay breaks down the factors which make world peace unrealistic and impossible and refutes that evidence with ideas that support the possibility of world peace. It is broken down into the fact that world peace is an abstract idea, non-peaceful acts are uncontrollable and the world is already too far divided. By including historical evidence of weaponry advancements, war and failed ideas like communism, world peace is proven to be unrealistic. Though it is merely an idea, there are many negative forces in the world and all people cannot be on the same page due to differences, it would be a shame to label world peace as impossible. Just as religions are based on faith, peace is based on strong belief that must be followed by action. When ideas are spoken out loud, written on paper or put into action, they become reality. Evil actions are due to evil thoughts. It may be a hard task to accomplish, but by first bettering circumstances for people all around the world and subtracting factors like bullying and mental health, violent actions would subside. As far as the colorful mixture of ideas that exist on the Earth, they can all be coexistent when people begin to practice acceptance. The key to achieving world peace while preserving the diversity of humanity is for people to accept differences rather than dispute about them. A universal standard of peace could be implemented in the work place, public and most importantly, education. The path to world peace may be a lengthy process, but if humanity began to teach peace to younger generations all over the world, these malleable brains would soak up the morals and ways to reach
