Who Is God? What Are His Traits?
Who is God? What are some of His traits? These are some of the key questions that need to be answered in order to be able to answer the question why He tests us and how he does it. This paper is specifically going to discuss God, according to the Islamic (Allah) and the Christian faith. There are specific traits that explain the presence of God. Most of the traits are based on human understanding. The following are some of the traits and characters that show the presence of God.
God is knowable. He is the creator of anything that man can see in the world. He knows everyone and everything he created. His creation is unique and cannot be compared to anything or anyone in the whole world. God is omnipotent (all-powerful)

The immortality f God cannot be compared to any human being who is mortal and also a creation of God Himself. He has lived forever to see the start of everything and the end of everything in the whole world.
God is approachable. He gives us the chance to talk to Him through prayers (also known as Swalla, in the Islamic faith).God does not demand that we talk to Him because we are holy, theoretical or even polite. It is his nature to be loving and accepting people when we go to Him.it is stated that in the bible that, "The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth." (Psalms 145:18)
God is forgiving and always makes peace with his people. He is not much demanding and usually gives choice to the people to choose their lives while they live in the world.in the Noble Quran, it’s stated that “And it is He Who has made you generations after generations, replacing each other on the earth. And He has raised you in ranks – some above others – that He may test you in that which He has bestowed on you. This trait is against human kind that is full of lies and selfishness. God gives a clear explanation about Himself in the Holy books such as the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible. God is full of accuracy in what he says and does. We can take up on God’s promises. This, He has promised in the holy books. "The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." After creating a pure and perfect world which he declared “good,” God experienced His first disappointment in humans. When He placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and instructed them not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam and Eve made the decision to disobey God and eat from it. In the first book of the Bible, Genesis, God can be seen as having a sort of bi-polar attitude. In the beginning chapters God is shown as a caring person when he is creating the earth and when he talks about how he wants Adam and Eve to succeed and do well and how he gives Adam a companion, Eve because he feels Adam will be lonely. As the book unfolds God becomes very angry with how his world is turning out. Sin has been introduced and humans seem to be falling away from the righteous. This upsets God and he creates an idea that he will flood the world so that only Noah and the people and animals inside the ark will live. His intentions seem horrible, trying to kill humans because they have sinned, but in reality he is trying to free the world of sin so that the remaining humans will live wonderful lives free of pain and despair. The flood can be seen as both a positive and negative thing. To non-believers they may find fault in the idea that God felt that he had to punish the world as a result of how sinful the people of earth had become. To help promote their ideas they could use statements from the Bible such as this one when God's feelings are stated about how he seems to be dissatisfied with the people of earth, "The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain" (Genesis 6:6). It can also be revealed when God states, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth" (Genesis 6:13).
He has new ideas of God. He concludes he did not create the idea of God. A finite being is incapable of creating an idea of an infinite possibility. Therefore, God must have created the idea already in him when he was created. Concluding that God exists. He also touches upon the idea in which he resolves it cannot be a deceiver. For instance, deception only relies on imperfection, while that is not God, which makes God a non deceiver.

Throughout life we question whether God is immanent or transcendent. Immanent theology believes that God is in everything on earth. Immanence is similar to being omnipresence in that God is present in everything at the same time. As human beings we believe that God is always around but still look up to God as being the superior one. Transcendent theology believes that God is above the earth and that God is separate from and independent of nature and humanity. God is not attached or involved in his creation. As humans living on earth we do not know who God is because God lives outside space and time. There are various arguments and examples to support immanent and transcendent theology through theologians that makes you contemplate if God is immanent or transcendent. Thomas Berry and Rudolf Bultmann are two specific examples of immanent and transcendent theologians.
This is better explained when one understands God’s character. God has an insatiable desire to know His creation, the human being. Much like a parent yearns to interact with their developing child, so God enjoys continual interaction with humankind. The child images the parent in a way like humankind images God. To image God, is to be like but not the same. But, much like there is an emotional and spiritual disparity between the child and parent, there is also a disparity between God and humankind. In Judaism, God is seen as having a contractual relationship with the Jewish people where they must obey his holy laws in return for their status of the chosen people. God rewards or punishes Jewish people based on whether they obey or disobey his will. In parts of the Old Testament, however, God does show mercy or forgiveness, and in later interpretations God’s laws such as the Ten Commandments are followed not only out of loyalty to God but also because of their high moral character.
Now you might protest that you do not use the word "God" in this way. Nevertheless, that does not really matter. If Anselm can show that such a being exists, then he has shown something remarkable whatever you call the being. Furthermore, it is not clear why anyone should resist calling such a being God.
Through out history there have been questions of where we come from and how we got here. It all comes down to the question of God’s existence. God’s existence has never been questioned during the times of when Christianity, Judaism and Islam were born. The question of God’s existence comes from our new way of thinking after these religions. Science has made us think of how things work in our world and brings Gods existence into question. There were no scientific studies done during the days of Jesus to prove that God exists, so where did the people in history get this idea of God from? Many philosophers have been questioning and giving their ideas of God and his existence. The ideas that we may have of God is usually connected with religion and our beliefs. One philosopher that touches on this topic is Descartes. Descartes gives his ideas on God’s existence and his out look on our selves compared to God. Most religions believe that there is a God and that he has created everything around us. Everyone has a different answer to this question that they think is the right one. Throughout this paper, I will be discussing God’s existence, while looking at Descartes ideas and through different perspectives of whether or not God exist as well.

The concept of God can be a difficult one to grasp especially in today's world - a world in which anyone that believes in God is trying to define exactly what God is. To even attempt to grasp such a concept, one must first recognize his own beliefs in respect to the following questions: Is God our creator? Is God omnipotent (all-powerful) or omniscient (all-knowing) or both? Does God care? Is God with us? Does God interfere with life on earth? These questions should be asked and carefully answered if one should truly wish to identify his specific beliefs in God's existence and persistence.
There are many religions today that people worship and adapt into their daily lives are their creed. Some may have a lot of gods, while some only have one god. But three of these religions are considered as the major religion practiced by most people in the world today. Although different in some senses in terms of history and other teachings, they all have things in common that most of their followers do not seem to realize. The similarities are very important to understand each religion better and be able to determine which parts they vary. In this paper, I like to discuss the similarities found in the three major monotheistic religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
