In this world, there are many courageous people mentioned on the television. The action movies are always talking about how courage is the key to save the world. The superheroes in the movie are always destined to make a courageous choice to save the day. But in this modern society, what is a real courage? What kind of action is a courageous act? Courage is something that anyone can achieve yet it might be the hardest thing for people. For an act to be courageous it must comply with the following criteria: First, a courageous act involves a great risk without any reward to be expected. A rapid decision has to have a deep thought behind it. It is a criterion that is in paradox but this is why the courageous action is so hard to take. In the scene where Jones is saving the drowning swimmer, “On the oceanfront, Mr. Jones heard a swimmer shouting for help. He saw signs indicating that this part of the beach was extremely dangerous because of undertows. A lifeguard asked Jones to help him move a boat into the water to be used to help rescue the drowning man. Instead, Jones said, “Don’t be silly!” He ran into the water to swim out to the drowning person”, his action could’ve saved the swimmer, but if this was miles away from the shore he wouldn’t have made it safely. He did follow the criteria of protecting or saving the most important. For Jones, explained in the previous paragraph, thought that people’s lives were important, and he took an action to protect for it. if the scenario was looked at only this point the action that Jones took was brave. The direct opposite of his brave action was the action of hurting other people. I personally don’t think that anyone who interacts or joins the war and kills their enemy is never justified. The proud action taken to protect the family might be honorable, but if you become the person to hurt the other it is not a courageous action. The action of hurting or killing people is the absolute evil and no matter what you do after or no matter what kind of reason behind it is, it can’t be changed.
