1. How strong is the Amerindian imprint on Mexican culture?
The Amerindian imprint on the Mexican culture has and is very strong. The percentages of the population is that 60% are mestizos, 22% Amerindians, 8% full-blooded Amerindians, and 10% European, and while the first thought of the region is Spanish/Mexican influence, there is an equal thrust from the Amerindians. In Southeastern periphery, thousands of Mexicans speak Amerindian language, even though they seal Mexican Spanish. There are over 100 different Amerindian languages from Mayan to Nahuatl. The Amerindian culture has influenced dress, foods, cuisine, autistic, and architectural styles. Because of the fusion between the heritages is make Mexico very unique. Historically, the settlers from the Old World came to Central America and learn the Amerindian languages, and began to force the individuals into Christianity. At this time the groups made through homes from wood, clay, or stone and today these are major tourism attractions.
