There are laws and rules in school, outside of schools and everywhere else you go. Sometimes they are clear but sometimes they are not. When they are not clear, things happen. “Censorship is the restriction or removal of information or the prevention of free expression” (Taylor 8). Censorship is everywhere in the world, from little countries to big ones. Censorship is a very worldwide topic. Censorship cases vary depending where people live, like a case in Virginia might not even be considered in New York (Emert). Many people focus a lot on censorship in school because it is very important to students, student’s parents, teachers and principals. Cases in school are the most common of censorship, because students tend to speak out unlike adults who just go with the flow. You never know when somebody might want to cause trouble and attract attention in a school by doing things that would have to go to extreme measures like taking it to court. Censorship can be a good thing but sometimes unnecessary and it always has its limits.
People censor because some things are too inappropriate, threatening, violent, obscene, indecent, and vulgar or have too much nudity (Taylor 8). Examples of people who censor is the community, a group of teachers, librarians, pastors, preachers or even parents (Taylor 8). There are fellow citizens who come in groups to censor things because they just want the best for the community. Many censurers are legislators on a local level, state or federal level (Taylor 10). The First Amendment states that: “Congress shall make no-law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble ...

William Brennan from the U.S. Supreme Court said that “…we hold that local school boards may not remove books from school library shelves simply because they dislike the ideas contained in those books…. The Constitution protects the right to receive information and ideas through the First Amendment” (Emert).
Censorship is very common in school but some cases are a waste of time. People should double think before they bring a case to a court because sometimes it is just pointless and unnecessary. Some cases have easy solutions like looking in a student’s handbook and finding the answer. It can get to a point to where people are just not going to care much about censorship anymore.
