The V-Chip
The Violence Chip, or V-Chip, is a technological invention that allows parents to block television that they deem unsuitable for their children to watch. Most television shows include a rating which was established by the Broadcasting industry. This rating is encoded into the programs, and the V-chip technology reads the encoded information and blocks the correct shows. Parents can program the V-chip to block certain shows based on their ratings by using the remote control.
Since January 1, 2000, the FCC now requires all new television sets that are 13 inches or larger to include the V-chip. Television manufacturers say that the V-chip will add less than one dollar to the cost of producing a TV set. If you want a V-chip but do not want to buy a new television, getting a ...

Safire emphasizes his argument around a comparison of a lost dog with a newly developed chip fixed underneath their skin which would let animal shelter alert owner of their pets. He declares that using a chip to find a lost animal would be a good side of technology, whereas fear of terrorism has placed American in threat of trading our right to be let alone for the fake security.

The authors of these passages have very different ideas about censorship. After evaluation I will determine which passage states a stronger argument. I believe that Passage 1 provides a stronger argument over Passage 2.
Stress, as defined as a reaction to a stimulus that breaks our physical and mental harmony, is ubiquitous. However, stress has two sides – the bad and the good, in which the latter is mostly overlooked as most people suffer from the affliction of the former.
The real problem will come when these chips are mainly used for tracking purposes. Though security cameras and the like already exist everywhere to monitor specific locations, they cannot put t...
...nted. They will claim it will reduce crime, provide more convenience etc. and if you do not get the chip you will not be able to buy, sell, or trade goods and items. But in the end as in the bible it is only the beginning of the destruction of our world and all will come to pass. He causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark on their right hand or in the forehead (Revelation13: 16-18). Is this just some coincidence? I do not think so.
Censorship has been used by governments and influential groups throughout history as a tool for political and economic gain since ancient times. The Romans thought censorship was necessary to shape the morals of society to match up with government ideals. During the 1500's the Catholic Church banned certain texts that conflicted with the established religion from being read. In these times the idea of censorship was viewed differently that it is today. With powerful organizations limiting information it was often impossible for an average person to obtain literature or hear ideas that vary from state ideals, they probably didn't even know that their information was being censored. We live in a different age today, information is more readily available and censorship is often looked at as a negative practice that limits freedoms. That said, it still exists today and can be viewed as an obstacle to true democracy.
The digital evolution began to transpire on November 1, 1998. Since then there have been many other forms of digital technology adopted by our society and digital television quite possibly is next. “The speedy conversion to digital technology will have profound interest benefits, permitting efficient spectrum use, optimizing the development of new technologies and services to consumers, and fostering diversity and competition(FCC).
It is important to know the difference between stress and stressor. A stressor is anything that causes stress, a stressful situation or the feeling of it to occur. Stress is the feeling that we feel when we are under pressure. A stressor can be noise pollution, angry people or a loud sound of a car’s horn (Baum & Polsusnzy, 199...
With the development of technology, violent video games invaded every house, and now it played by every teenage in every family, whether on mobile phones, computers or gaming devices. Some people do not believe that those violent video games effect on the children, while others believe that the government should prevent the selling of these games. However, violent video games made a negative influence on everyone, on children brain like thinking skills, which made their behavior aggressive, on their physiological energy and feeling leading to segregation and violence between siblings in the same family, also on the parenting role of the parents, who are do not know anymore what they should do with their children.
new advancements such as microchip implant for humans and animals can be very controversial. At first, the implants may seem to have benefits but in the long run they will actually cause more trouble than they are worth. These potential "troublemakers" are about the size of an elongated grain of rice and are injected in the skin under the arm or hand (Feder, Zeller 15). The chip is not powered by battery and there is nothing that can possibly leak out into the body (Posada-Swafford 8). An early form of this technology was used to monitor salmon and has been used for other wildlife research (Verhovek 5). The idea of the chips was started from the September 11 tragedy when the firefighters going into the Twin Towers were "IDing" themselves by writing information on their arm about their blood type, health conditions, and their identity with a permanent marker (Bentley 10). The VeriChip Corporation, which is owned by Applied Digital Solutions, saw this as an opportunity to market their product. As a result of their marketing ploys, Applied Digital claims that so far there have been about 1,000 human recipients of the chip.
The Art of War has been used quite frequently throughout the years by many intelligent leaders and scholars. The day of its origin is still unknown, as well as who actually wrote it. It is believe that a Chinese military leader named Sun Tzu is the author, but people nowadays begin to question if he actually existed. Some people say it is a collection of Chinese military strategies that were passed down generation from generation. Whatever the origin of these teaching is, it is clear that whoever developed these tactics was an extremely wise individual. Not only does The Art of War show us amazing strategies to use in war but a new way of viewing, and living our lives. We can use all of Sun Tzu’s basic principles in our everyday lives, which makes these teaching even more unique.
Censorship affects our society in many different ways, it affects the music we listen to, the movies we watch, the books we read, and many other aspects of our everyday lives. Even though many might argue that censorship doesn't really have a place in a society that emphases freedom of speech and the freedom to express oneself, but censorship is an essential and needed part of our growing society, it's needed in the television industry, the Internet, and the music industry. Censorship helps to make our world a better place because it creates a better environment for us to live in.
