Celiac Sprue also known as celiac disease is a chronic disease of the digestive tract that interferes with the digestion and absorption of nutrients from food. Due to the intestinal damage and malabsorption celiac sprue can reduce the quality of life due to diarrhea, fatigue weight loss, bloating, and anemia. The lining of the intestine contains essential enzymes for the absorption and digestion, its destruction leads to malabsorption, a difficulty in absorption of food and essential nutrients. Furthermore, setting up a schedule so that patient can get help for a registered dietitian. A support group may also help you cope the disease and diet (Rubio-tapia A). Groups can help you share your stories and help you understand that you don’t have to go throw this alone and to here other success stories, or just to get tips and guidance from others that have the same problem. My nursing intervention for a patient with Celica Sprue would be to relieve the patient of irritability. Enhance the patient outlook on failure to thrive. Also, I would watch the intake of patient fluids and output because during output that can cause patient to become dehydrated.
