In the course of my education during college I plan to study at either Cedarville University or Moody Bible institute. At cedarville I plan to study elementary education with an extension of special education. I choose this major because I love working with children especially those who need extra help because it challenges me and my character and also helps the child develop.Also I have been accepted to this school. During my last two years of highschool I have been in a vocational program working with children ages six months to five years of age. This program has challenged me and my teaching skills and has helped me grow as a teacher. We have a pre-school during three days of the week where we plan everything around a theme and them teach
I have always been interested in working with children. Becoming a teacher has always been a potential career path for me; however, I recently discovered the position of a child life specialist which has further broadened my interest for a future career. Although they are not educators in school, they are extremely important since they are the educators for children and their families to help overcome difficult and/or challenging life events. As a child life specialist I will be teaching children and families in hospitals how to cope with their diagnoses, how a surgery day will go, how certain lifestyles will have to change, and much more.

Ms. Jordan led the brown trail at Camp Bridlewood. We learned about naste water treatment. We hiked to a wastewater treatment place, there were a lot of steps to it. We built a water treatment filter using a plastic bottle, cotton balls, and a screen in our group. We took a class picture on the rocks. It was really fun and I was on the top rock.
Throughout this unit, I enjoyed learning about gothic plays such as Ithaca Road, which we had studied immensely in term 3. In my opinion, I enjoyed the concept of being in a small group acting out a scene of the play, rather than reading it line for line as a class. It was more enjoyable and built on our skills in the aspects of performing and developing a different personality. However, due to the lack of time availability, various members didn’t act to their full potential, with absolutely no blocking being implemented. Whilst watching this play, I immersed myself into its brilliant, well-constructed storyline. The play brought to my attention to how a gothic story can be portrayed. Moreover, the film most definitely cleared up any confusion
I entered college as a business major because I felt that I could make an acceptable income postgraduate and I could force myself to find a area within business where I could succeed. However, the more I explored different business careers, the less I wanted to pursue one. I knew deep down that I had a strong connection to working with children and therefore, felt that I should look into careers that match my personality. I was very fortunate to find that my personality type fit strongly with counseling and education. In the midst of a United Nations Association club end of the semester party, I received perhaps the worst news of my life. I was talking to my friends when I looked down at my phone to see a news alert from The Washington Post which said, “Over 50,000 Hondurans who were allowed to live and work in U.S. since 1999 must leave, according to DHS memos.” My mother happens to be one of the 50,000 Hondurans. The news shattered my heart and left me feeling overwhelmed with emotions. I abruptly left the party and ran to my campus’ honors lounge, the only place I truly feel free of judgment. The movie I decided to watch was Paradise Now. Quickly outlining the movie, it was about two childhood friends who were recruited to perform a suicide mission in Tel Aviv. To start out, I really enjoyed this film and how the characteristics and personalities of the characters related to International politics. I was not expecting Said to sabotage his friend, Khaled, making him go back in the car while Said returns to complete the suicide mission by himself. It showed me a few different sides of him. It shows me cowardice in the sense he thought dying would help me in the after life but also acknowledging and accepting to let his friend stick with his decision to return to safety. I chose to major in elementary education because of my love for children . I enjoy working with children, I feel that they have an entirely different way of looking at the world. I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I want to improve their lives, but at the same time make it fun and interesting instead of dull and tedious. Children naturally have a short attention span. I have worked in an elementary school for four years, and I have learned that to keep children entertained but at the same time teaching them.
I was inspired to become a teacher for many reasons. Teaching will be a self-fulfilling career. It would give me the opportunity to help my community and have a moral and ethical impact on the students of this area. Also, I desire to be with my children as much as possible, and a teaching profession fits that mold. A teaching profession would be rewarding because it would allow me to fulfill many personal goals, including working with the youth of the area and spending time with my family. For many years I have volunteered with the Boys Scouts of America. Doing this is one of my passions, but recent jobs I have had did not allowed much time for volunteering. A teacher’s schedule would allow me to be able to serve this organization by volunteering as an Aquatics Instructor, teaching life-saving skills. My other passion is my family. Spending time with my children is the best way to create life-long memories. However, it is difficult to spend time with my family and school-age children when our schedules are not alike.
