In Ukraine about 20 km south of the border of Belarus located the Chernobyl nuclear power station. On April 25 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was collapse and sending electricity shots to the control room. The radioactivity was ninety times greater than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs into the nearby villa side. The Chernobyl accident destroyed the 4 reactor and effected on more 30 operators and firemen were killed. After as a result of injuries received one person was killed immediately and a second died in hospital. The acute radiation syndrome (ARS) was showing in more than 237 people on the site and involved with the clean up. It was later confirmed in more than 134 cases. A few weeks after the accident 28 people died as a result of ARS. Although a large area of childhood thyroid cancers effected since the accident. This accident happened with more than one causes plus several contributed added to it. The accident happened during RMBK reactor testing. A huge reaction happened in the reactor count causing explosions and a huge fireball which blew off the heavy concrete and steel lid on the reactor. Design fault in RBMK reactor, a violation of procedures and Breakdown of communication are the causes of the accident.
An RBMK reactor is a strong pressure of water reactor using a graphite moderator and a water cooling system. On April 25 1986, RBMK reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was due to temporarily close for routine maintenance. The reactor crew at Chernobyl 4 began preparing for a test to determine how long turbines would spin and supply power to the main circulating pumps and to the main electrical power supply. In the end of this essay that Professional engineers have a very important job in our live. The fact that the Chernobyl nuclear power station could be still working till this day. It would also be the be bigger and strong station that produce more power. In other hand, the engineering of the station could have save many live by working together before the disaster happened. In the of the day, we can see that the disaster could happened any time or from any mistake that lead to a lot of bad effects. From the result of test the nuclear and ignoring the light in the lab, the engineering were fault to succeed to keep the station running and their job on the station.
