In the past years, Childhood obesity has eventually been a big issue in the United States. This is not really just an issue anymore; childhood obesity has become an epidemic as well in America. The childhood obesity rates have been increasing really rapidly; it is becoming hard to control the booming rates, mostly everywhere you go you see an obese child. There are many factors that are causing the childhood obesity rates to increase within a blink. A few causes that cause childhood obesity are fast-food, lack of exercise due to technology, genetic elements, and low income. As you know technology advances every day, new electronics come out all the time. These children ask their parents to buy them one, so they go on and actually buy it for them. So they get so entertain with them watching movies, playing games, etc. which makes them inactive. They just sit down and start using their electronics for long hours that they totally forget about exercise. There is no productivity going on so there is no way they will be burning the calories, that these children consume daily. It is said that only one-third of children in the United States have physical education at school (“eMedicineHealth”). These inactive hobbies such as watching T.V leads to snacking, which the snacks they choose are always junk food such as cookies, candy, chips, and soda. According to eMedicineHealth, “Children and teenagers in the United States spend, on average, over three hours daily watching television.” Also, their parents always fear danger when putting them into sports such as breaking a leg or hand so they just don’t get put into a sport and they remain…show more content…
The rates of obesity among American children have been increasing really rapidly, that it is becoming uncountable. There are various of factors that lead to childhood obesity. One big childhood obesity factor is the unhealthy eating habits, such as eating large amounts of junk food. Junk food just contains excessive amounts of calories and fat which is not good for the body. The foods that the children are consuming these days are really low in nutrients. Another factor is lack of exercise due to technology takeover. Television, video games, etc. are taking over their exercise time. They totally forget about exercise when they get entertained with their gadgets. No productivity, there is no way that calories will be burn by just sitting around being lazy. This is not always the problem; childhood obesity is also caused by genetic factors it is basically something that runs in the family. Well eating healthier, less junk food, more productivity could lower the obesity rates among children.
