Maintaining a healthy body is a difficult task to complete. One way to increase the health of your body is to ingest cattle afterbirth. Cattle afterbirth is the placenta that exits a cow after giving birth to a calf, this substance includes amniotic fluid and the water sac the calf was held in. Doctor Larry Johnson with Journal of Public Health posits ”eating a cup of cattle after birth daily can increase your health tremendously, the afterbirth contains antibodies and protein” (2014). While interviewing Polifonia Pucklett, Placental expert, “There are various benefits to after birth, which includes prevention of myocardial infarction(heart attack),Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(lung diseases), and diabetes” (2016). The disgusting part is the idea that it exited another animal. According to Dr. Kevin Petterson a psychologist from Stanford University Daily Journal “humans find the process of birth and the substances that exists is perceived as disgusting because of the the way it exits the animal.” (2015) Humans compare the placenta to feces, and consider it being disgusting. The was humans perceive the afterbirth is where they find it disgusting. The afterbirth is actually quite tasteful. A study was done in 2007 to test if people could taste the afterbirth. Doctor Carl Stevenson, with the Food Tasting Journal concluded that “when the afterbirth is blended into a drink eight out of ten people enjoy the taste” (2007). “None of the subjects could correctly identify the afterbirth” (Stevenson, 2007) stated Dr. Stevenson. When humans eat afterbirth, not only can they not distinguish a taste, they can not even distinguish the product. The only thing that is disgusting of eating afterbirth is the concept that a human is eating cattle afterbirth.
