Exposition The story began with Cathie Borrie and her mother Jo, they watched the sea and gazed birds in the peaceful sky. It described that the birds tried to get something; and the birds tried to find love. In the beginning of the story, the birds symbolized love. Loving someone was like adopting and take good care of a bird; Catch the bird, placed in the cage, and love it. But when the bird wanted to fly away, do not stop him. Release and let him fly! if the bird really loves you, he will come back for you. Cathie describes the bird, who came back for her mother that has an Alzeirhmer disease. Additionally, it also describes she felt guilty for not visiting her mom ever yday. She was also worried that she might fall and won’t able to …show more content…
She started to ask tons of questions like ; how did she get home, and random questions about her parents that had passed away. Cathie Borrie started to piss about her mom’s question. However, Cathie has this long patience to answer those different types of questions. Every time that the question was asked there she would always respond that her parents were out of town, and they will come back for her, and would always remind her that her mom was at her own home. Furthermore, her mom was crying when Cathie left at her house. Her mother said that she wanted to go home with her daughter. But, Cathie said that she would call her as soon as she gets at home. Her mother tried to stand so, she could get out of her wheelchair. She would like to go with her daughter and aforementioned that she doesn’t want Cathie to leave her alone. Cathie was very upset to her mom because, she was always asked the same questions, and she accidentally said towards to her mom that she was wondering if she took up too much of her time, too much of her life and regretting why she was the only one who left in their family members to take the responsibility to take care of her. However, she felt guilty and apologized to her mom, about what she just said earlier. She decided to drive home with her mom. Later, her mother’s face lights up, every time babies come on the tv. She bought a small comfy doll and a crossword puzzle from …show more content…
The doctor gave her some advice, support, and some prescriptions. Cathie Borrie lied besides her mother who struggled breathing. Apparently, her mom asked again another question if where is her mother. Cathie responded that she’s coming first thing in the morning, and Ms. Borrie lied again to her mom. On her last trip to the bathroom with her mom, she was frail, shaky, and her thin legs were dangle high above the floor like a child. The back of her hair lies flat against her head. Her mother was restless, all day long and through the night she talked to people that Cathie couldn't see. Every four hours she gave her mother an injections to ease her pain and restlessness. She put them into her arm, and tried to find a place that won’t make her mom wince but, she was always wincing. She sent the caregiver away because ,she wanted to be alone with her mother. In the other day, the doctor went to their house again and mentioned that It won’t be today that her mother would die. Cathie Borrie started to cry; she can't do it anymore, and she doesn’t want to see her mother suffering. Furthermore, her mother was struggling to breathe and looks like a skeleton. By the late afternoon there were large red blister on her back. Cathie listened to her mom's struggling breathe. Cathie Borrie was worried. She said to her mom that she let her go so, she would rest and stop suffering.A few hours ago, her mother was no longer awake. Her
Right from the first stanza, we can clearly see that the girl emphasizes her passionate feelings towards the boy by explaining how she desires to be close to her love. Moreover, she expresses the theme of love through using a narrative of how she is prepared to trap a bird. Apparently, this symbolizes how she is prepared to trap her lover’s feelings with the desire to live together all through her life. Additionally, the young lady emphasizes on her overall beauty, her beautiful hair, and clothing which is of the finest linen which she uses to attracts her lover’s attention (Hennessy & Patricia, p.
To briefly summarize this poem, I believe that the poem could be separated into three parts: The first part is composed in the first and second letters, which stress on the negative emotions towards the miserable pains, illnesses that the parents are baring, and also their hatred of the birds. The second part, I believe will be the third and fourth letters, which talks about the birds’ fights and the visiting lady from the church. And the last part, starts from the fifth letters to the rest of them, which mainly describe the harmonious life between the parents and those birds.
Tijanee M became self injurious, without warning she went to her room and placed a blanket over the door jamming the door for entry. Staff immediately attempted to open the door and was unable. Tijanee verbalized continuously she is going to kill herself tonight. The staff was able to gain entry to the Tijanee’s room with the use of the screwdriver. Tijanee was sitting on the floor with a sock tied her neck. Staff was able to provide emotional support and retrieve the sock from Tijanee’s neck. Tijanne began to pick at her recent sores until they were bleeding. Staff used kind gestures and hurdle help to calm Tijanee down. Tijanee was able to exit her room willingly and nursing was called for assessment.
The tile of the poem “Bird” is simple and leads the reader smoothly into the body of the poem, which is contained in a single stanza of twenty lines. Laux immediately begins to describe a red-breasted bird trying to break into her home. She writes, “She tests a low branch, violet blossoms/swaying beside her” and it is interesting to note that Laux refers to the bird as being female (Laux 212). This is the first clue that the bird is a symbol for someone, or a group of people (women). The use of a bird in poetry often signifies freedom, and Laux’s use of the female bird implies female freedom and independence. She follows with an interesting image of the bird’s “beak and breast/held back, claws raking at the pan” and this conjures a mental picture of a bird who is flying not head first into a window, but almost holding herself back even as she flies forward (Laux 212). This makes the bird seem stubborn, and follows with the theme of the independent female.
Like “On the Departure of the Nightingale”, the flight of the bird also symbolizes the removal of the song, and the loss of the creative force for the poet; the nightingale is free to escape from a world of decay and death, while the poet is forced to suffer in it.
As the audience already knows that there are many tales that are told in the story. These stories are the base for what has to come later in the sections. These stories have lessons and hidden meanings that will show through the mothers and daughters. For example, the first part of the book is “Feathers from a Thousand Li Away” is intended to teach the reader about hope, which is symbolized by the swan. One of the mothers in the story has a feather from the swan and in hopes, one day give it to her daughter and tell her the struggles that the family had to go through to have a better life. This wish is a very difficult one to come true because of a
The idea of writing at any school level or in life is seen more as a grueling task than enjoyable experience. In the novel, Bird by Bird, the author Anne Lamott is speaking to a generation of writers, who may be struggling with the process. The content is rich with stories to help the writer analyze his or her own life to add it to their writing style, a concept that may be hard for some people. Bird by Bird is an effective book, because Lamott includes not only writing tips, but a sense of humor along with life advice.
Her eyes were heavy, her body weak. As she crawled into the bathroom two feet away, Abby felt her body slowly succumbing to the numbness. All of her pain would be gone in less than 10 minutes, so why would she want to turn back? What about the senior trip Abby had planned with her best friend? What about the chair at the dinner table that would now be vacant? A couple of hours later Abby’s family came home from her little sister’s soccer game. Little did they know what they would find as they approached the top of the stairs. Her little sister, Ali, stood still as she looked down at her feet. There on the cold floor lay her big sister, her role model, and her super hero. Ali was crushed when she saw the pill bottle in her hand and the pale color of her skin. Her mom fell to her knees screaming and crying, wondering where she
Further back than two decades from the present moment, a beautiful woman blended flawlessly into the immaculate ottoman she lied upon; limp and colorless. Claiming each moment as an opportunity to retch up any remaining poisons, she also savored each minute as an opening for somber thoughts. Succeeding into only her mid-thirties, my mother was not near surrendering in her battle against Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and she was even further from anticipating any predestinations. Toxins recycling through her veins, she could barely imagine the following minute, let alone the ringing of a bell to signify the end of her treatment. And even though she was eventually able to grasp onto that bell, she still not able to grasp onto the doctor's unfortunate news
“The Cranes” by Peter Meinke appears to be a simple love story about an old couple reminiscing about their life, but with a closer look the story reveals a darker component of love. The story follows an old couple’s stop at the Gulf to watch some birds. While they are watching the birds they spot two whooping cranes. Throughout their conversation and observation of the birds Meinke reveals details that the couples and the cranes share in common. Thus, the pair of whooping cranes viewed by the couple in story symbolizes both their rarity, eternal love, and their last moments together.
The story The Birds is about mass flocks of birds that unexpectedly start attacking and murdering the citizens in Bodega Bay. The setting is in 1952 by a bay that seemingly seems like small town America. A new comer Daphne du Maurier comes to Bodega Bay and unexpected things start to occur.
Bird usually portrays an image of bad luck that follows afterwards and in this novel, that is. the beginning of all the bad events that occur in the rest of the novel. It all started when Margaret Laurence introduced the life of Vanessa MacLeod. protagonist of the story, also known as the granddaughter of a calm and intelligent woman. I am a woman.
The birdcage represents how Mrs. Wright was trapped in her marriage, and could not escape it. The birdcage door is broken which represents her broken marriage to Mr. Wright. It also represents Mrs. Wright escaping her marriage from Mr. Wright. When the door is open it allows Mrs. Wright to became a free woman. At one point in time the cage door use to have a lock that locked the bird inside the cage. This represents how Mr. Wright kept Mrs. Wright locked up from society. duMaurier uses the children in “The Birds” to intensify the frightening atmosphere because Nat must be protective of the children because of their safety, the children cry when they are frightened, and the children have a hard time sleeping because of the birds frightening them. In a small town in England, a cold front changes the weather. Nat Hocken opens a window and a bird attacks his hand, he also hears screams from his children’s room. He kills the birds to protect himself and his children. He notices huge flocks of birds walking his daughter to school. As he thinks this is odd, he boards up all the windows. That night, Nat and his family sleeps in
In the poem there are two birds, one is caged and is forced to watch the other free bird. “But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.” The caged bird in Maya Angelou’s poem is forced to watch the free bird from his cage. This caged bird can’t beat his wings, fly, or move, he can only sing a song that is a cry for help. The caged bird can’t do much about his situation, he is trapped and disabled. “ But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.” the caged bird cannot fly anymore because his wings are clipped. Even though he can’t fly the bird still opens his throat to sing. The caged bird in “ Caged Bird” is not as free as the bird in “Sympathy” because if this bid is free he can fly and do whatever he wants. But the bird in Maya’s poem cannot, he isn’t truly free, there is more hope for the other
