I know the biggest discussion when you are about to get a new pet is; am I a cat person or dog person? I’m about to solve your confusion. 62% of United States homes have at least one pet. Overall, homes that claim to have pets 78 million of them are dogs and 86 million are cats. These numbers are misleading, according to a survey in the Reader’s Digest 41% identified that they were cat people where as 74% were dog people (Reader’s Digest). My sister is a major dog person she can’t live without them some days. Her latest addition to the family is a Vizsla puppy named toby. According to her the nick name of this breed is a Velcro dog, it’s loyal to a fault and whimpers at the sight of you walking away. Then my mom would never admit it but I think she is a cat person. I am sure of this by her loving nature, and sometimes individual attitude. To be completely honest, I am a little of both. I have an Australian cattle dog which is the most adorable lovable herding dog that looks like a little dingo. On the other hand, I have a tabby cat that loves to curl up with me in front of a fireplace with a good book.
The life of a cat person is more likely to be somewhat particular. The stereotype of a crazy cat women is not really true. On a usual basis, they are more likely to be women. Their personalities extend to being unconventional introverts. This is just a fancy way of calling them outside of the box thinker but with shy tendencies. The interest in this issue covers nations from end to end because a majority of households have pets. Cat based people are solitary, not always social but are usually good with thinking and innovating. Dog based people are highly social, are very traditional in values, and are most likely to have your average family and home life. In addition to these there is a chance you should just get both a cat and dog because they each can equally serve a purpose in your life.

Cats can be very lazy but dogs are not very lazy. Dogs can be fun and active while cats just like to sleep most of the time . According to the article “Pet Statistics” by the ASPCA estimates there are 70-80 million dogs and 74-96 million cats owned in the United States. It is impossible to determine the number of stray dogs and cats, but the ASPCA estimates there are 70 million cats alone that are strays in the US (“Pet Statistics”). The overpopulation of dogs and cats live either on the streets and die each day, they live in a shelter and try to get adopted, but even then they die. The ASPCA states that nationwide about 7.6 million companion animals enter the shelter and of the 7.6 million approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats (“Pet Statistics”).
There are tons of things that can come to mind when one thinks of a dog or a cat. Many people make a choice to become a cat person or a dog lover. There are so many things to think about when choosing a pet. When it comes to owning a pet, most people often think about the amount of space, along with the energy levels the cat or dog might have, most people, also include the amount of attention the animal is going to need, then it comes down to the cost of the pet. Choose the pet carefully.
But like an exception to every stereotype, my experience with a human –animal relationship is also an exception. When I was twelve, I received a pair of kittens as my birthday gift. I was never an animal lover so I wasn’t too excited to receive it. But as the days went by, spending time with them developed a soft corner for them. Unlike dogs, with cats it’s more of a give and take relationship. You have to spend time with them and show them you care for them to be able to reciprocate the same care and concern for you.
