In the Land Down Under, or Australia, there is a massive, flightless bird called a Cassowary. This ratite has black feathers with a bright blue head and neck. This shy bird may appear appealing, but its fight side of its brain is far larger than its flight side. The Cassowary is thought to be the utmost dangerous bird in the world. The Cassowary can murder any predator with one quit kick (Garbus n. pag). Therefore, a good name for a pet Cassowary would be Charles Manson because they are both bloodthirsty. For the next few years he was in and out of prison for many different charges (“Charles Manson.” American). Manson got released from prison and became a leader of a “hippie” group. After many months of traveling with the group on a school bus, the whole group settled into a ranch in Chatsworth, California. The group followed Manson as if he was the alpha wolf in a pack. They even followed Manson into criminal activity. This included the group’s first killing spree. A man in the group that they called, Tex, brought Manson’s crew to the Tate family’s residence just north of Beverly Hills. The group brutally murdered the 6 of the 7 victims. The short story “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, and the excerpt “Learning to Read” from The Autobiography of Malcom X had similar themes, although they were written with different styles. The theme these two stories had alike was the power of learning through books and reading. Sherman Alexie and Malcom X both drastically improved their education by teaching themselves new things. They did this by reading books, dictionaries, and anything else that interested them. It is amazing what these two men have done for themselves, and very inspiring. Sherman Alexie became a successful writer, and Malcom X became one of the most powerful leaders of black America. The impact that books and other written pieces had on these men did not happen overnight, but in the end it was time well spent.
The Zodiac Killer is an unidentified man who is presumed to be a serial killer that operated in Northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Murdering at least five people, but the Zodiac claims to have killed upwards of 37 people in total. In 1969 the Zodiac Killer began sending letters to the Bay Area newspapers, taking credit for the five killings and threatening further violence. The Zodiac Killer would call and send cryptic letters to the law enforcement agencies in Northern California, taunting them since they were unable to bring him to justice. The police had suspects but none that they could ever charge for the murders, due to lack of evidence, so this mystery still remains unsolved. The cultural impact that the Zodiac Killer has had on tv, movies and the media is still around today and has had many shows and movies remade after what this killer did. Kathleen Maddox was considered by some to be a teenage whore. About his mother, Manson says, "For Mom, life was filled with a never-ending list of denials…In her search for acceptance she may have fallen in love too easily and too often, but a whore at that time? A notorious murderer or serial killer is the typical next door neighbor one would hardly associate with a serious crime: an educated psychopath with little regard for life. Most of them commit murder for some misplaced psychological benefit. Their actions border on insanity, as some commit theft by stealing their victims’ belongings and committing rapes, an indication of a need for financial gain or a craving for distorted sexual desires.

Serial killers murder three or more individuals and suffer psychological abnormalities. Albert Fish is one of the many serial killers who took innocent lives and destroyed families. Fish was born in Washington D.C. in 1870 and committed hundreds of murders and engaged in cannibalism (Blanco, 2015; Casale, 2014; Ouzman, 2008; Taylor, 2004; Twisted Minds, 2007). He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit these murders, which were carried out by members of “the family”. Tate, her unborn child, and four others were murdered on August 9, 1969 by four members of cult. The next night, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were killed in their home. Charles Manson was found guilty January 25, 1971 and was sentenced to death March 29, 1971. Before his sentence could be carried out, the death penalty was abolished in California, so he is now serving a life sentence. Charles Manson has been called the “most dangerous man” and the “devil”. There IS a connection between murderous beings, such as Ted Bundy and Charles Manson, and a common high school bully. Such characters share similar traits such as a lack of remorse/shame/guilt and changing themselves if they know it will help keep them from being found out. This is known as sociopathy. The connection between the two characters listed earlier, is that the root of their behavior stems from their childhood. More specifically, it stems from their upbringing. A child who suffers from maltreatment or neglect are two very common problems. There is even the opposite of neglect, a parent who praises and pushes their child to do their best, throughout their entire life, until the child finally snaps. How a young child is treated from the moment they are born to adulthood can immensely affect the kind of person they become. If signs of sociopathy are found early on enough in the child’s life, something can be done about it.
