Why Diet? There are many slimming weight loss programmes on the market but very few come down to good honest home cooking. The recipe portfolio includes many meals which can be cooked at home ranging from a simple family lunch to a three course à la carte menu. One missing utensil used in most kitchens is absent, the deep fat fryer. Diet isn’t just about diet foods; it is about developing a whole new relationship with food. It is not just that we eat but about what we eat. A portion means a portion. If it says serve 4, then you should eat quarter portions at a time. It would be impossible to lose weight even without using the deep fat fryer and substituting it with extra-virgin olive oil, unless we eat small average portions, not easy to be…show more content…
There is room for manoeuvre. Meal times can be switched about. Meals can be omitted or changed around to suit oneself. It is just a blueprint of what is achievable on a calorie controlled diet. But meals cannot be increased or weight loss will never be achieved. Alcohol cannot be taken on this diet unless a lot of meals are omitted, not advisable as in most cases, alcohol contains empty calories. When target weight is achieved, a range of recipes are included which are low enough in saturated fat, sugar, etc. which will help maintain a healthy diet. But do not disregard the calorie controlled diet once weight loss begins. Nobody can take it away from the British. They are good cooks. A lot of these recipes are historically British. They are not my recipes. I am not a chef, although I have a keen interest in cooking. But a lot of these recipes what were served amongst Royalty and The Aristocrats in the past. A lot of them would have been brought to Britain by William the Conqueror in 1066 and have gradually filtered into society. Today’s middle class society in this recession would probably not be able to afford to eat such exquisite cuisine in Restaurants and Hotels but they could afford to cook it at
