As Fitzgerald’s does not have a formalised HR function, the first, and most important step, to take is to establish one within the business. It is vital for a business of any size, in any industry, to have in place and implement a well thought out and effective HR strategy. This becomes all the more important as the business has decided to expand. It will be essential that both properties are coordinated in the way the business operates. HR strategy is defined by Tyson (1995: 3) as being “the intentions of the corporation both explicit and convert, towards the management of its employees, expressed through the philosophies, policies and practices.” An effective HR strategy aids and assists the overall business strategy, and the achievement of organisational goals.
With the planned expansion of Fitzgerald’s, there will be an increase in the number of staff employed and the workload will rise respectively, meaning it is essential that the business adopts a strategic approach to HRM. As the business prides itself on the quality of service that is provided, it is essential that there is a consistent standard of excellence across both hotels. The key policy areas that currently pose a

Therefore, it is recommended to use e-recruitment. Breaugh (2008: 113) states that “web sites are perceived as generating a large number of job applicants at relatively low cost”. Through e-recruitment, Fitzgerald’s can use their corporate website, which must be of a professional standard, and a commercial website e.g. www.irishjobs.ie, to advertise vacancies. The first benefit of this method of recruitment is that the advertisement can potentially reach millions. Secondly, the speed at which applicants can be reached is an advantage to Fitzgerald’s as it allows for the swift identification of suitable candidates, who can then be selected and their training and induction into the hotel can
The advantages of internal recruiting are that it strengthens employees’ morale, cost less, and reduces orientation and training time. The main disadvantage of internal recruiting is that your business may become stagnate with people that become used to the organizational structure and use the same way of thinking. The advantages of external recruiting are that it brings in fresh blood to the organization (new set of knowledge and skills) and it gets your company’s name out there; it serves as a form of advertisement. Some good practices for external recruiting are asking the Chamber of Commerce or the Convention & Visitor’s Bureau if you can review their old resumes to see if they have any leads. Other good practices are posting job specs on online websites or in local newspapers, attending job fairs, stealing from competitors, or using third-party recruiters (Woods p. 96-100). I would try to recruit employees from within for this hotel. This is because the hotel is in need of employee morale and the employees will be more comfortable with the changes I will be making with a manager and other employees that are familiar to them. After recruiting and collecting resumes, I would choose the best fit candidate by using the job descriptions and taking in account their experiences, personality attributes, checking references with their previous employers, and completing a background check on each candidate (Woods
What’s behind the brilliant mind that created The Great Gatsby and other F. Scott Fitzgerald works? Every author has their own set of inspirations and an eventual downfall of sorts. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was brought up to succeed in his writing, wholly inspired by the love of his life, Zelda Sayre, and eventually torn down by stress and alcoholism.

At thirteen, he completed his first story that was published in the Academy’s newspaper. Later, Fitzgerald moved to New Jersey and attended the Newman school for two years from 1911 to 1913. Fitzgerald went on to attend Princeton University; there he wrote scripts and lyrics for the musicals performed at the University. In closing it is important to note that making HR a strategic partner, having the ability to attain a competitive advantage through HR, creating an effective performance management policy and having the ability to effectively measure HR’s impact will be a key driver to success
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote about what he knew, giving readers a perfect reflection of America in the 1920’s, considering this, his fictional work is almost autobiographical in a sense. Although his topics were limited, they were written well because of his extensive knowledge of the time period, extensive knowledge of himself, and being able to express that through his writing. In his 1933 essay “One Hundred False Starts” F. Scott Fitzgerald describes how he repeatedly drew upon his own life experiences to create beautiful novels because doing so is most effective when trying to connect with the reader. He said:
“Hr is shifting from focusing on the organisation of the business to focusing on the business of the organisation” (Zulmohd 2011). David Ulrich points out four distinctive roles of HR which makes the organisation most effective and produce competitive advantage. He planned to change the structure of HR function and build HR around roles. The four key HR roles identified by Ulrich, one HR business partner/strategic partner – aligning HR and business strategy which plays an important role in setting strategic direction. It builds strategic relationship with clients and strategically manages the development of the workforce. The second key role is administrative expert which creates and must deliver effective HR processes made to tailor business needs. It also involves managing people and HR related costs. To continue to the third key role, change agent which understands the organisations culture, and takes the responsibility to communicate those changes internally and gain its employees trust. The final key role identified by Ulrich is employee advocate which is a core in HR role represents employees and helps to improve their experience, protect employees’ interests and confirm strategic initiatives are well balanced. Employee advocates must also “ensure fair, ethical and equitable people processes and practices.” “David Ulrich’s HR Model is about defining the HR roles and

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. In 1846 he was elected to the U.S House of Representatives and successfully won. He was the president during the Civil War. In the year of 1863 Abraham Lincoln supplied an Emancipation Proclamation and liberated all the slaves.
Throughout the 1920s, Francis Scott Fitzgerald composed stories that told the truths of the Roaring 20’s and the Jazz Age, changing American Literature by giving hid audience the social truths and “that’s-just-the-way-it-is” (Bruccoli.) form of writing. In Fitzgerald’s “Bernice Bobs Her Hair” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” the illusion of appearance rather than identity leads to jealousy and bewilderment. To develop this thematic idea, Fitzgerald uses imagery, characterization, and irony to demonstrate his characters’ situations with appearance and identity.
" This global London-based mining and mineral company was severely impacted by the global recession in 2008. Such an impact forced unprecedented workforce reductions worldwide and decentralized HR management had to be brought in under a single umbrella to ensure an orderly and efficient system that would support the organization’s future productivity."( Case Study OneRedesigning HR HRMG 5000 - Student Simple). Human resources have a strategic significance if managed efficiently and productively. The company revamped and managed its HR functions in a manner so as to achieve the strategic goals of the
F. Scott Fitzgerald is considered today as one of the greatest authors in American history. In fact, he is named after Francis Scott Key, who wrote the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. Francis Scott Key was a distant relative of Fitzgerald's, so writing must have been in his blood from birth. Being such a renowned author, he had his glory days. Although, not everyone would guess that he died believing himself a failure. Best known for his novel The Great Gatsby, which chronicled the 1920s in America, and also became a present day required read for high-school students (as many would know).
