EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An entrepreneur is an innovator or developer who recognizes and seizes opportunities; converts those opportunities into workable and marketable ideas; adds value through time, effort, money or skills; and assumes the risks of the competitive marketplace to implement these ideas (Kuratko, 2009). Arnold Aranez is one such entrepreneur. He has used his skills to develop a unique product line that fills a niche gap in the market.

BACKGROUND

Arnold Aranez was brought up along with his 2 younger brothers and younger sister in the North Western suburbs of Melbourne. Arnold’s family hails from the Philippines. He is a family man; a husband and a loving father. He completed high school at Kealba Secondary College and went on to complete a Bachelor of Information Systems at The University of Melbourne. Currently based in Hong Kong, Arnold works at one of the worlds top insurance companies; AIA Hong Kong. Other than his work in insurance Arnold has independently established Aranez.com; his own business which he founded in 2011. Aranez.com sells luxury leather cases for smart phone devices .To date Aranez.com has sold a variety of cases to customers in over 30 different countries.

Aranez.com is a design, manufacturing and retail business that focuses on producing high-end premium cases for mobile phones and other small electronic devices. Including cases made from such as high quality materials such top quality kangaroo leather. Arnold is involved in all aspects of this endeavor he designs each case himself. They are manufactured in house and sold directly to the public via the Aranez.com website. His business has a global reach and has sold products to customers in 31 countries.

...little initiative. As said by Thomas Edison “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” [3]. To simply come up with a good ides or recognize a gap in the market is not enough.
Success is about doing your homework. Spending time and effort in research and preparation. It also important to never underestimate the advice you can get from others. Always ask questions. Learn from the examples and mistakes of others, “those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” [4] as quoted by George Santayana.

CONCLUSION

As demonstrated in this report and by the course material covered in class, being an entrepreneur is an approach that though commonly associated with business, can also be applied to all aspects of our lives. To achieve success in all our endeavors we should approach all we do with the entrepreneurial ethos of vision, passion and planning.
