The reason for this pick, I believe, that we forget why we are here, for example, the focus quite often is on the offenders, and the victim/witness’s often leave the court with the memories that will never leave them, they are forever scarred. The biggest challenge I would be faced with, is the lack of resources that are available to the victims/witness’s, in the end, it all comes down to dollars. Therefore, my approach to advance the solution to this problem, would be through public awareness, reaching out to the community leaders and the public, thereby, providing a deeper awareness to this problem. The criminal justice system in the United States is made up of three parts: the police, the courts and corrections (Drakeford, 2011). Each one of these parts works simultaneously together and the work of one influences the work on another. All three parts of the US system have been influenced and stem from English law. To start, the role of the police in the US criminal justice system consists of the collection of evidence, arresting offenders, giving testimony in court and performing investigations (victimsofcrime.org, 2008). Officers begin by creating a report with all the information they have gathered. An investigation of the crime then begins and the identification of the suspect is underway. Once the suspect is thought to be found, officers can issue a citation for him/her to appear in court. The case will just remain open if there was not enough evidence collected (victimsofcrime.org, 2008). Next is the role of the courts. The courts decisions are made by judges who also are the key factor in determining sentences and plea bargains. Once an offender is convicted, they are either sent to prison or jail. Prisons are typically for high crimes while jail is usually for those who have committed a lesser offense. It is the courts ...

Thank you for the email regarding your concerns about the new Dollar Store that will be going up behind your house across from the alley. Regarding your first concern about a screening wall around the Dollar Store; the site plan submitted by the developer to Planning & Zoning calls for an 8’ high long-span precast concrete decorative wall that will be put up next to the alley between your home and the new Dollar Store. However, the site plan also calls for expanding the current alley right of way width from 15 feet to 18 feet so you should not have any concern about backing up into the screening wall.
Within the law each accused person is entitled to have a public trial that is impartial. This trial must be where a person will attain a fair trial. In certain cases the trial must be moved from the original state and district because media attention may sway the opinion of the jury. Before any person stands trial they must be allowed time with legal council. This time is allowed so that the accused can obtain any witness's in his favor to help in his defense.

For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $68 of that will stay local compared to $43 if spent at a “big box store”. Even though people believe that local businesses are not as beneficial as a big box store, buying locally not only benefits the business but also the community because buying locally builds a strong community and the money you spend at a local business gets put back into the community.

When an individual enters the criminal justice system, it always begins with the police. So in order for police to be involved in any situation, there has to be a crime committed or violation of any law which has been put in place by the government. As the police act as the enforcement agents of these laws, they are the first ones to be involved. There are four steps that police follows when there is a crime – the crime itself, the report of the crime, the investigation of the crime, and the arrest to finish this process – these are the very basic avenues which police follows.
I have chosen to use a criminal defense lawyer as my primary legal career for this discussion board. Many times criminal defense lawyers will be helping a client even before charges have been filed against them by
The process begins with an incident reported to the police officer and that police officer may arrest an individual based upon probable cause. The offender is taken to a jail facility where he or she is booked. Now, based on the crime committed the suspect may post bail and if bail is not granted he or she must await trial. In trial, the jury decides if there is enough evidence to indict the accused of the crime. The judge will convict the offender and punish him for the crime committed. It is essential for one to be familiar with the criminal justice process to ensure your rights and decisions are constitutionally
