The patient for this analysis is Ms. Julia Kolpek. Julia is a 36- year-old female. She doesn’t drink, smoke or take any medication. However, due to her work environment she doesn’t have time to exercise either. She enjoys drinking soda and eating chips throughout the day. Julia’s caries risk assessment was measured at high. Her initial plaque score was a 77%. Based on the seven series vertical bitewings, it showed that she has multiple carious lesions. Julia’s daily activities make her a good candidate for this dietary analysis.

The Food Groups and Calories Report presented Julia was deficient in refined grains, she could improve her intake by substituting white grains with whole-wheat grains. Julia should increase her consumption in some areas, such as whole grain, vegetables (dark-greens, red/orange, beans/peas, and starchy vegetables), fruits, dairy, seafood, and oils. Her average caloric intake was less the recommended 2,000 calories diet. To improve in those areas she is deficient in, Julia should start by reviewing labels and read the ingredient list. Instead of drinking soft drinks and eating chips throughout the day, I suggest she should alternate her soda to low sugar juices. Instead of eating chips, Julia should eat fruits or vegetables as a snack. Julia presented high amounts of sodium, from the intake of frozen foods. As a result, Julia should cook with less salt, and try to adjust her eating habits by cooking healthy foods. She needs to increase in nutrients such as dietary fibers, linoleic acid, calcium, potassium, iron, copper, magnesium, vitamins A, C, D, E, K, folate and choline. To improving in these areas, Julia should attempt to eat nuts that are good sources for linoleic acid.
