Case Analysis Background In early April, ABC Inc., needed to recruit several new hires. These new trainees needed to be ready to work by June 15. During this case study we will discuss the problems that the company and its workers had to confront. Carl Robins had been hired six months earlier as the campus recruiter. He had just graduated from a community college and was extremely excited to commence his work at ABC Inc. Carl was known as an industrious man, who had to work his way through to college. Coming from a low income family, Carl had to attend school and work full time to pay for his education. This was Carl’s big opportunity to begin his lifelong journey. Monica Carrolls had worked for ABC Inc., for more than 25 years as the operations supervisor. She was known to be the most experienced staff member of the company, she was a person who employees could trust and depend on. She had successfully completed every task provided by management. Monica’s responsibilities consisted in making sure Carl would complete his job by having prepared the training schedule, orientation, manuals, policy booklets, physicals, drug tests along with other issues. The problem On June 1st, Carl found out that the paperwork needed the orientation was missing, some of the trainees did not have applications completed or their transcripts on file, and none of them had been sent to the clinic for the mandatory drug screen. He then searched the orientation manuals and found only three copies with several pages missing from each. Carl then walked to the training room and realized that the training room was not vacant. The training room had been reserved for the month of June by the technology services department. Carl was frightened. Overall conclusion Carl lack of experiences guided him to failure on his first recruitment. Monica did not help Carl complete his first campus recruitment. As an alternative Monica should have stayed with Carl in the process and guided him to successfully complete this task. This would have helped Carl and Monica to build a strong communication. Monica should have continued to follow up with Carl to keep reminding him the importance of having the trainees ready for the orientations. From now on Monica and Carl should work together to complete daily task and build strong communications skills. Mr. Ross needs to take give them a verbal and final warning regarding this issue. Both of them have caused the company a big loss.
