Which college is your first choice and why?
Carnegie Mellon University
a. Research
CMU's computer science program is top 5 in the country. Its program is well-rounded and offers the ability to take classes in courses outside of the STEM field. A highlight of the school and of special interest to me is the program's summer jobs to conduct research on campus.
b. Alumni
I have spoken to many alumni of CMU, specifically the computer science program, and they have all given me positive feedback of the college. They have all spoken greatly of their research programs and all were in very good positions upon graduation.
c. Financial Aid
CMU has been known to provide their students with large sums of financial aid and will often match the financial aid of other schools. This is very important

Describe any areas of growth that you experienced (personally or academically) during your high school years.
a. Communication Skills
As a freshman, I was very shy and resisted talking to people I was not comfortable with. Around my sophomore year, I decided to put myself out there and take more risks. I joined a lot more clubs, made new friends and most importantly, I began to make more of a connection with my teachers. I would not be hesitant to talk to them and sometimes would just stay back after class to have conversations with them. Improving my one-on-one communication skills made a huge impact on other areas of my life because I was not necessarily shy anymore and liked to talk.
b. Presentation Skills
As an underclassmen, I hated presentations and despised any form of group projects. As my communication skills improved, it also led my presentation skills to improve. This has made me enjoy presentations and because of this have received very positive remarks from presentations that I have done over my sophomore to senior years of high school.
Aside from learning information, the most important skill that I developed in high school has to be my growth in
My primary goal is to become a Surgical Technician/Medical Assistant. I've done tons of research on the career and I feel it best suits my interest, my work ethic and my hunger for the expansion of knowledge. I plan on attending VCU for four years, majoring in Bio-Science. After receiving my Bachelors Degree I will exercise my studies and apply them to my future career at any hospital or medical center of my choice at that moment, such as CJW Medical Center (Chippenham Campus), or St.Mary's Hospital and etc. I feel VCU has what I need to succeed because of their very proficient MCV program. Approximately nine through twelve hundred students every year graduate under a major which involved the MCV program. The environment is very positive and
My experience at Ventura College meets all of what Hacker and Dreifus set as good college traits. Ventura college tuition rates seem to be very reasonable and also affordable to most people, most people don’t have to worry about being stuck with a debt that they have to pay after they graduate. Teacher’s quality at Ventura College is great, most teachers know how to teach and how to interact with students. The student teacher ratio is low with comparison to other big colleges. Most of Ventura College’s money is spent on students related activities, there isn’t a fancy cafeteria or a huge gym. My experience at Ventura College exceed the price I pay to attend it.
The pros of the jobs here at Cal Poly Pomona is that there are friendly co-workers and staff, the semester pay raises, free food when having major events, easy going work environment and it is a good work experience. Some cons of the work there is that working with faculty can be a bit troublesome at times, there is low pay for starting ITA's, a lot of software to learn, and self-training is necessary when finding a job there. There are many pros and cons based off the jobs but as one can tell there are many more pros in the college about jobs so that means that this college doesn't really have a lot of problems when finding a job. (Cal Poly Pomona Reviews) CSUSB has many jobs and many opportunities to be able to stay active around campus. Some pros are that that place has great benefits, good working conditions, great vacation time, lots of great people you can work with and they pay for your education while employed. Some cons of the jobs in the college is that it is hard to get raises unless there is a system-wide rase given ,which there has been in the last few years but can change at any time and based on the state budgets. So as seen it is very easy to get a job here and also beneficial to your education because while being and employee there they pay for your education. (CSUSB Reviews) Both of the colleges have very good reviews about the jobs there and how they
I was shy because I didn’t know anybody. Now I’ve gotten to know the people in my classes, and I’ve learned that they can help me just as I can help them. Because I was homeschooled, I was a little laid back on when to turn in assignments, I just turned them in when I felt like it. At college, I have changed the way I turn in assignments. I have learned that if I turn in my assignments early or on time I have a better chance of getting a higher grade. I have also changed in the way I manage my time, before I started college I would just get out of bed whenever I felt like it. Now I set alarms and different times on when I need to get something

I am enrolled at UC Blue Ash and my experiences and relationships to the courses that I will be writing about will reflect the Blue Ash campus. I like the UC Clermont College and am fortunate to take the summer courses here but since I live in Indiana it is just too far to drive here. I was very fortunate to be able to take most of the courses at the Blue Ash campus.
I could not imagine starting my college education anywhere but Minneapolis Community and Technical College. The reason that I say this is because Minneapolis Community and Technical College makes me feel like family and very comfortable in achieving any goal that I may have. I came to Minneapolis Community and Technical College thinking that all the other students here would be a lot more advanced and superior than I am only because I took so much time off from school. Starting classes here my thoughts were completely changed by the way everyone was welcoming and eager to help me with whatever I needed. Another reason why I feel that Minneapolis Community and Technical College is a great place to get my feet wet is because of the small class sizes, that range from 18 to about 54 students, and convenient location from where I live. My commute, by personal transportation to campus is about 20 minutes or 5.5 miles away from where I live in St. Paul. Most four year colleges and universities would be hesitant to accept an individual like myself whose ACT ...
From reading the brochures and materials available online, one can come to the conclusion that the University of North Carolina at Charlotte advertises an environment which combines the required work ethic and the enjoyment of an interactive and enjoyable community where a student can reach their goals.
High school is where I had gained an awareness about how what I 'm learning in school is going to benefit me in the real world. I learned an retain a variety of information because the things that I did learn I felt like you would need to know to survive in the real world. A perfect example of this is driver 's ed where I learned to drive something that I do everyday frequently. Another reason why I learned and retain so much I because when I got into high school is around the same time I got my first job. This definitely opened the door in showing me how what I 'm learning in school applies to everyday work activities such as knowing and counting money this is where math comes in. Being able to talk and communicate writing and verbally this is where English comes in. All things that I needed to do in everyday
I have had several friends who graduated from UNCW and they have all said great things about the college. I am a local to brunswick county and so I am very familiar with UNCW and it is very convenient for me to take classes here. I love the atmosphere at the college. I think that the college has such a great reputation for being a family and I would love to be a part of that. One of the major reasons I have decided to pursue this college is because I have had help with a million questions of mine since the first time I emailed Dr. Hengameh Kermani. She knew that I was not yet a student here but nevertheless she has not stopped helping me. She has given me many tips and links to where I can find the answers to my questions. Knowing that she is a busy lady but she has been taking the time to help me, makes me see that she truly cares about people and loves the program. I absolutely love dedicated teachers like her, which is the reason why I have chosen this profession and major. I want to be an inspiration and role model to student's and I know that if I attended UNCW, I would learn how to do so from the wonderful professors all around the
As I have grown and learned in my past three years of highschool, I have learned about my
I felt uncomfortable and nervous (in all honesty, I still am) meeting strangers, consequently this did not help that fact in my first year. Seeing how I had no choice in the matter, I became cooperative and thoughtful of others; it was cause of this, I felt assured and at ease for my unaccustomed school year.
As a young child I was a non social person, and did not like to participate in anything. I liked to be an individual person, and do things on my own. I was shy and not outgoing like all my other friends were. When I enter a situation for the first time, I have a hard time speaking up until I feel comfortable. As being as shy as I was, my school work was affected a lot because I would not raise my hand to ask questions if I did not understand something, or go to the teacher for help. It was hard to transition from that stage to being more outgoing and talk more with my peers. It was difficult to communicate with others becuase of this as well, i was not able to be the perosn that i really am.
In six grade, I had to interact with other kids. I slowly learned that I could talk to them, by the middle of the year. The learning in that class in the middle of the school year wasn’t the greatest. I learned a lot and grew a lot during that year, from being scared in the beginning of having friends in the end of the year. I had a great teacher named Mrs. Sandoval who really gave me the help I needed.
